As can be seen, the _0 copy errored out (with "couldn't start app: CreateProcess() failed - A required privilege is not held by the client. Microsoft Windows 8.1 Enterprise x64 Edition I have seen this error come up quite frequently (on other projects) seemingly always with this OS. I am wondering if some person in some business is running BOINC without corporate permission. Yes, I realize just because it is an "enterprise" edition does not necessarily mean a business, it could be an individual. But nevertheless this error is occurring far too often to just be one person. Something is amiss, but I can't quite put my finger on it. |

Well, I'm hoping that I get credited for this (I can't remember if a "Too Late", where my machine produced the goods, whilst others failed to, gets credited or not - I'll be extremely dissapointed if I don't...), but the _3 copy didn't get back in time, thus the _4 copy went out - and a little later, the whole shebang went "Too Late" - due to the _4 copy erroring out.

Edit: Thankfully, my "Too Late" was included into my stats - as they're now reading: 1,133,017 663 1:002:15:48:14 Edit2: It actually looks as though the _3 copy did actually come back (albeit late 3hrs 20 mins late on a 'short deadline' WU), and thus, I think it was this that turned that copy, as well as mine, into an "Invalid" - and hence, the reason why I got some credit for the work my computer had put in. In my "perfect world" :-) ..... the "Please opt me in to new projects as they become available." option should be restricted for some projects and some form of eligibility qualification widget be enacted for a member to subscribe. Also, is there any monitoring of members who return excessive "Too Late" results? Maybe a threshold cold be established were such members would be dis-qualified from receiving WUs for these projects. Other possibilities: - Max number of processes reached - Not enough free/virtual memory to start Is there any clue in the Microsoft event logs. Or do these causes have neglible effect? Hmm. Other possibilities: Unfortunately, we're talking about errors seen in results by unknown wingmen, crunchers who haven't taken to the forums to ask for help, so we may never know the technical reason for the errors.- Max number of processes reached - Not enough free/virtual memory to start Is there any clue in the Microsoft event logs. The dam has burst! I have just received 216 HST WUs of which 100 are the long running ones and 116 are the short running T000 and T001 WUs. I've just done the rough mathematics and that's about 137 days of processing whereas I needed 70 days to get to my 5 year diamond badge. Nothing will keep me on this project a moment longer than needed, so I will be keeping track of what's in PV and once my badge is in the bag I'll abort the rest for other badge hunters to get in ~40 hours from now.
