Galaxy S8 performing about 50% less than my S7's and S5 RESOLVED

ISSUE SOLVED: Without doing a single thing, my S8 is now crunching about 52 results per day and 6.3 hours runtime per day. That is almost three times the average performance of my S7's. I was so pleased I bought another S8 with the same super results. Please note I have to cool my phones on a high-end laptop cooler to prevent overheating. I found a Thermaltake laptop cooler for 17-inch laptops which monitors the temps in four locations which very nicely matches up with my two S7's and my two S8's. I found I still need to keep the house cool to keep my phone's external case temps below 75F. I don't have a clue why I had a problem in the first place. I really appreciate fellow forum supporters for their prompt and thorough responses.
version 7.4.53
Transfer on WiFi only max 25 MB per day
min battery level 100%
Power sources Wall Socket Only
Max Battery Temp 40C
8 Cores
CPU Limit 100%
Pause at CPU above 100%
Max Used storage 30%
Min Spare Storage 1.0 GB
Access Interval 60 seconds
Ram Limit 100%
No other added apps on S8 to eat processor time
Results for OET 10-20 Hours on S8 when not performing and 3.5 - 6 Hours on S7' both of which crunch normally. Current performance of S8's 1.5 - 3.8 hours elapsed time for Ebola programs using all 8 processors at 100%. My phones are dedicated 99.5% to crunching.

How's the battery temperature when crunching?
Also, those hours, CPU time or clock time?

AMD Ryzen 5 2500U 4C/8T 2.0 GHz - 28W

Re: Galaxy S8 performing about 50% less than my S7's and S5

The hours were clock time. The S7 finishes its work units in about 1/2 the clock time of comparable WU's on the S8. The CPU time on the S8 is about 50% of the elapsed clock time. On the S7, it is >90% CPU time. My processors are only crunching OET's about half the elapsed time on the S8. I don't have a clue what the other 50% is doing. I don't know how to tell battery temp, but all my phones are resting on a fan driven laptop cooler which monitors case temp of each and keeps all the case temps around 75F. both S8 and S7's are reading the exact same external temps at 100% load. Is this new technology not optimized yet by WCG on the S8 processors? Does anyone else have this problem on an S8?

Re: Galaxy S8 performing about 50% less than my S7's and S5

-Are these phones dedicated crunchers, or do you use them for daily activities?

-According to comparisons on the interwebs, the snapdragon 835 in the S8 should be about 20-30% more productive than the 820 found in the S7. So theoretically you should be seeing faster WU times on the S8.

-To measure temp on androids, I use CPU-Z. It's available in the google store for free, and gives a lot of info, including processor core count, load on the cores, temps, etc...

-Even though you mentioned no additional apps on the device, if this is a standard ROM from one of the major carriers, they tend to load a LOT of bloatware onto the device. One way to neutralize this is to go into settings and then to applications, and start disabling stuff that is not needed. Also that keeps them from needlessly updating themselves and growing exponentially larger storage wise.

Another option would be to root the device, and load a custom ROM.
-I would set the min battery power down to 90% and see if that helps. Possibly the S8 can't keep up the battery charge fast enough, and every time the battery drops below 100% the job pauses. I don't remember in the android world, but I know on BOINC windows you have to check the box that says leave applications in memory, unless it reverts back to its last checkpoint. Again, I can't remember offhand if BOINC on android has that option. Also you could try setting the pause at CPU above: to 0. I believe that means dont pause it at all.

These are just some random thoughts. Hopefully one of them helps you figure it out. Good luck.

They are 100% dedicated crunchers. I will do what you say and get back to you. I wish I could here from at least one user with an S8 so I know if this problem is unique to my phone and what results are possible. Try to use your resources to find someone crunching WCG with an S8. I'll put that in new post right now. You seem skilled at solving issues. Thank You!

I was in settings disabling stuff. Now I can't find my settings Icon on the S8. Where did it go?. Very few as apps icons are visible.

Have you swapped the charging cables around? Not all chargers are equal in ability.

Re: Galaxy S8 performing about 50% less than my S7's and S5

The charging cables are not swappable because the S8 has a different micro-USB connector. I'm using the charger that came with the S8. The cable and the charger are both black for the S8 but white for the S7 or S5. Keep trying to find someone using an S8 to crunch anything in BOINC. I'll try Googling again. I appreciate your help. Please keep suggesting. My processor is not being fully utilized. It is only 32%. But the S7's are 100% which may suggest a WCG software update is needed for the new architecture.
