Huawei Y530 will only run on one core

It has two cores and runs fine on one of them. But if I chose to run on both cores it crunches for a few seconds and then resets. This loop continues and no wu is ever finished.

Any idea how to make it work?

I looked up that phone and it only has 512 MB of RAM. That is very low and probably the reason that you can only crunch with 1 core.

Yes, the specs are not very impressive.

It spends it's life plugged in, crunching away and I hoped it could use both cores.

Oh wel...

Re: Huawei Y530 will only run on one core

Update (and tip):

As this is a retired phone I removed all the apps I could and disabled nearly all the rest.

This worked - it runs fine on both cores now.

Re: Huawei Y530 will only run on one core

You probably released RAM in doing so.

Good to hear!

Re: Huawei Y530 will only run on one core

Congratulations on getting 0.5GB RAM device crunching WCG with both cores! :) I have been trying to do the same with my very similar Y330, but since I can't remove any apps (yes, it is my primary phone!) there's not ehough RAM available and so it can't run any WCG projects. Only things it can run are DreamLab and SETI. But thanks for the tip, I'll do the same when I upgrade.
I'm curious, is your Y530 rooted? Which project/s you are able to crunch with it? OpenZika may be impossible to get running, I think it needs a bit more RAM.

Re: Huawei Y530 will only run on one core

It shouldn't be impossible. My old Sony Xperia E had a whopping 409 MB of RAM, but I could still run OpenZika. Thing is, even though BOINC will say that you need 250 MB of RAM to run, it'll never actually use that much - that phone never had 250 MB of free RAM at any time, but even if you increased BOINC's settings to allow using that much, OpenZika doesn't use more than about 80 MB at most.
