Congrats Stefan on making the top 100

My challenge at the mo is to make 2 days a day.

(I've just checked and I've done it 2 days 1minute and 48 seconds a day every day since 16th Nov last year)

We're down to P23 on the member numbers again

Re: Get Blogging

Hi all,
Have not posted for a while due to work commitments, but after reading through recent posts, thought I would add my two pence (cent) worth.
Before I start, please, all comments are intended as constructive!!

One of the best ways to recruit new people to My Online Team is through the web. Checking out the team site, the technical bells and whistles are awesome. But... There is a complete lack of text content about what the community grid is and how My Online Team fits. To gain new people, we have to attract casual surfers via search engines. Search Engines need content that they can digest and feed to people.
I would suggest the following:
Include detailed descriptions of:
What is grid computing.
What benefits / costs to people.
What My Online Teams aims are.
Who we are.
Achievements so far.
Inside this text, needs to be phrases along the lines of:
"Finding a cure to cancer"
"Beating incurable diseases"
“Using computer to help others”

If you like, a new section to the site that provides the hook for potential people looking for “something”, which is optimised for the search engines.

As converts, it is difficult to appreciate the shear number of people who are not aware of projects like this, and that they can make a real difference.

With web sites, content is king. The number of visiting people will dramatically increase providing the site gives answers to their queries.

Thanks,
Gary

Team Website back on line

We've been off line to upgrade to Gigabit Ethernet.

Unfortunately still only 256K uplink to the Internet (2 M down now) but I can now throw some large database files and backups around the house so I don't loose your data in preparation for Project MyOnline

Coming soon to a browser near you shhh

Re: Get Blogging

Hi Gary and thanks for the imput. I hope that my blog covers all of your suggestions and ideas. Yes I may have missed some and will try and add them to my blog. If we all start a blog maybe people will start to jump onboard. The entire WCG needs there help. We the current members can only do so much, which we are doing a great job at that. More computers mean more help to the scientists and a faster completion to this project. Then we can all jump on the new project of equal importance.

Real simple come one come all the world needs your help great and small it all adds up to victory.

Re: Congratulations to Cyberwire on reaching 2,000,000 Points

Thx guys.. I almost missed it myself.. somehow I've managed to stop checking stats daily and I've cut myself down to 2-3 times a week. I just found out about the linux client... I have a feeling my march up to the top is going to get MUCH MUCH steeper now... Might have reached my peak sooner than I had hoped.. Oh well.. I'll still keep climbing... Still looking for boxes too... they just seem to be hiding better these days..

crunch on!
