Microsoft update -> dead in the water

I've read about this and now it has happened to me. At about 3AM this morning, my trusty desk top computer received a Microsoft update and now all I can get is an error; "Inaccessible boot device" . I've seen a lot on the web about this but so far have been unable to have any success in getting the machine running again. Looks like I am out of the crunching business for a while. SIGH. Bad Valentine's day present. :(

Re: Microsoft update -> dead in the water

I have had problems with Windows update previously but not this one. However I have had similar boot problems - I think my message was something like 'no boot device'. My solution was to unplug all USB devices. The PC then booted normally and continued to do so even with USB devices plugged in.

Re: Microsoft update -> dead in the water

The Windows 10 updates knocks my PC out as well.
Did it when I was away, so lost 7 days of crunching time.
Had to do a ctrl alt del a few times as well as unplug the usb dvd drive.

Re: Microsoft update -> dead in the water

Do you use Technical previews, bought or cracked Win10? cool

As I don't have those on:
- validated (upgraded from Win7) to Win10 in RAID10
- Technical preview Win10 in RAID1
(knock on the wood) wink

Re: Microsoft update -> dead in the water

Do you mean 'cracked' as in 'pirate', KLiK?
My Windows10 is an upgrade from my verified, certified, genuine OEM Windows 7pro.
The 'pro' disappeared in the upgrade process.

Re: Microsoft update -> dead in the water

Thank you QuantumEthos for the info, but it seems that I need to get my computer running to see take any action on this. I don't have any USB drives connected as some people suggested. The only USB things are for the keyboard and the wireless mouse. If I could only get the computer booted, then I might be able to stop Norton AV and try it all again. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks
