Your welcome and your thank you are so nice, smspell
![]() Isn't it funny that Eric_Kaiser lives so close to where you were stationed? For many years I have had a thread running that encourages the crunchers to fill in their Forum profiles with their country as a minimum. Now you posted that you have been stationed in Wildflecken, and I happen to know Bearcat of Minnesota Crunchers has been in Baumholder. Perhaps if you service people listed these places you might meet someone you served with by chance like Eric_Kaiser noticed that you happen to have been to his area. I find your organizing skills far above average, smspell. Are you a general? ![]() ![]() |

Thank you little mermaid for the compliment.
I was just looking at Eric_Kaiser page he is from Hesse. it has been about 35yrs ago I think it included Fulda where we had to go to catch the train to Frankfurt Am Main. When I went to the field I was in the Kassel area. I never got to Baumholder Perhaps if you service people listed these places you might meet someone you served with by chance like Eric_Kaiser noticed that you happen to have been to his area. That is a good idea. Hopefully, it will work. In Germany, we had a sister German Battalion. Pioneer Unit Zwei (2nd Combat Engineer Battalion) |

Frankfurt am Main is 13 Miles/20 km from my home away.
----------------------------------------You wrote you went to field near Kassel. That might have been Schwarzenborn. ![]() |

Most of the time we were in the Hunfeld and Eiterfeld area. I hope I spelled them right.
Some of the time we were in the Kassel Han Munden area, here we joint training with our sister unit Pioneer Unit Zwei. |

From Fulda we used to drive over to the Iron Curtain
----------------------------------------- some called it the Death Strip and have a look east to the DDR-Germany. It must have been a magnetic mystery to us. We did it time after time when visiting BRD-Germany. We stood there with our binoculars until a patrol from Bundesgrenzschutz (Border Police) came and advised us in terms not to be misunderstood that we better head west. When we returned to Denmark in 1992 our first road trip went to Germany - the former DDR - just to make sure that the news we had watched in Rhode Island spoke the truth .... When were you stationed in Germany? EDIT: Sorry, I was inattentive. You said about 35 years ago making it 1973. Sargent, I bet your men had the best made beds and neatliest folded underwear of all … ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jul 6, 2018 9:54:06 PM] |
