Re: Work Available

I think Ian is commenting on the OS version of the device -17.7.0.
This is a very wild guess, but I'm guessing it isn't a mac, but a machine or device that has been repurposed with linux. Let us know know if this OS manages to complete the WU or if it gets bounced to another machine.

Ian

The one that held you up was the no reply. It could be that it wasn't even switched on for several days. There are still too many No Replies. Hopefully you will have better luck with copy _3 which was only issued 14 hours ago but was only given 3 days to return.

Re: Work Available

I got some resends. I'm glad people chose to participate in the program, but judging by the resends, some of them don't pay attention. Boinc is good at recovering and resending out WUs that don't get done in time, but when there are idle machines waiting for units, then it impedes the science. I'm finding my slow machine is contributing to ARP as it is at least reliable.

Re: Work Available

Yep - it it's a mac then it's running High Sierra or something, so won't be very recent kit.

Mine is a 2018 Mac mini that has nothing else to do, other then run my weather station and the odd bit of media serving and usually gets a ARP WU done in about a 18hrs/ a day.

Just seems a bit like perfectly good CPU cycles are going to waste ;) (or at least standing around looking at their watches).

Thanks for the info, folks.

Re: Work Available

I'll do 2 ARP's, just because I haven't done any for a while. I did 1 on April 8, and 1 on April 10.

I got the 2 that I requested, immediately. The Windows 8.1 computer is mine. But it's a pretty slow Laptop, with a i7-3630QM CPU @ 2.40GHz, so it will take a while to crunch them smile

Re: Work Available

So Ian, my 2011 iMac running High Sierra ran the workunit in half the time you did. Not bad for a "creaky old Mac", eh...? :)

Re: Work Available

Are ARPs being validated? Is it happening slowly, or is it not happening at all? Mine haven't changed.

Re: Work Available

The 2 ARPs I completed today were validated within a couple of hours.

Unixchick,
All bar one of my work units returned since about 15:00 on May 12 have validated. Everything prior to that remains to be validated.
I will keep an eye out to see whether the validator is now working through the backlog.
Cheers,
Mark

Re: Work Available

I have 10 ARPs returned on May 8 and 9. 6 of them doubled validated, but still marked as "Pending Validation". 4 are still only with my Validation, the other still in progress. One with "Pending verification".

At the moment, I start resending 8 more. Will see, what happens.
