Re: Work Available

Also, (some?, many?, most?) ARP1-tasks that need another wingman seem to take hours to be waiting to be sent to one of the other voulnteers; I've seen several examples, like those mentioned by Grumpy Swede: ARP1_0015421_138_2 took 9 hours, ARP1_0012995_138_2 10 hours (while ARP1_0012995_138_3 only took 1 hour).
Anyway, I've received 9 resends during the night, which isn't that bad after a good night's sleep sleep

Adri
PS Two more arrived one minute ago. peace laughing (Downloaded both together in just 30 seconds.)
PPS If you want to try a new weekend puzzle, see here. blushing

Re: Work Available

Mark,
I can confirm your observation: All resends from today had been finally validated within an hour. All older resends still "Pending Validation".

Just a thought on 12995. Might the discrepancy relate to how long the different copies took to download? Only explanation that I can come up with.

Re: Work Available

I also have 6 work units that I returned on 8, 9, 10 and 11 May pending validation. For each of these units, both _0 and _1 were returned within the deadline, and at the latest on the 11th.

Re: Work Available

This one validated pretty quick. Only took about 20 minutes or so. The Windows 8.1, is my task:

And my second ARP finished. Waiting for the wingman:

MyrCu,
Thank you.
For me, almost all tasks returned between 15:00 UTC on May 12 and 19:30 UTC on May 13 have validated. But nothing since then and, as far as I can tell, little or no progress on the earlier stuff.
Cheers,
Mark

Mike

(All times in UTC.)
Mike, I've observed the last 45 ARP1-tasks that were sent into my direction. cool
The numbers 44 and 45 (the oldest in this list) follow a normal pattern: a task that is not returned within its deadline is immediately being resent to another device (as _2, _3, etc.).
I received number 44 at 2023-05-12T09:04:12 (where task _1 timed out at 2023-05-12T09:03:59):
<44> ARP1_0010993_138_0 Linux openSU Error 2023-05-06T09:00:27 2023-05-07T15:09:59
<44> ARP1_0010993_138_1 Fedora Linux Valid 2023-05-06T09:03:59 2023-05-12T22:28:59
<44> * ARP1_0010993_138_2 Fedora Linux Valid 2023-05-12T09:04:12 2023-05-12T19:59:14
<44> ARP1_0010993_138_3 Linux Ubuntu Valid 2023-05-12T21:41:47 2023-05-13T06:31:57

Then it lasted till 2023-05-12T18:00:04 (9 hours later) before I got another one, 43, where the deadline expired 5 hours before the copy reached me (!):
<43> ARP1_0017950_138_0 Linux Ubuntu Valid 2023-05-06T12:16:20 2023-05-09T06:39:42
<43> ARP1_0017950_138_1 Linux Ubuntu No Reply 2023-05-06T13:03:46 2023-05-12T13:03:46
<43> * ARP1_0017950_138_2 Fedora Linux Valid 2023-05-12T18:00:04 2023-05-13T04:39:03

Number 42 came in 8 hours after the expiration of the deadline for task _1:
<42> ARP1_0019451_138_0 Linux Debian Valid 2023-05-06T13:41:18 2023-05-09T11:03:44
<42> ARP1_0019451_138_1 Linux GNOME No Reply 2023-05-06T13:56:17 2023-05-12T13:56:17
<42> * ARP1_0019451_138_2 Fedora Linux Valid 2023-05-12T21:56:06 2023-05-13T08:43:52

Number 41 took over 10 hours before it was resent:
<41> ARP1_0021799_138_0 CentOS Linux No Reply 2023-05-06T14:43:24 2023-05-12T14:43:24
<41> ARP1_0021799_138_1 Linux Ubuntu Valid 2023-05-06T14:54:43 2023-05-08T05:37:01
<41> * ARP1_0021799_138_2 Fedora Linux Valid 2023-05-13T01:04:45 2023-05-13T17:46:57

The latest task that I received, number 1 of this list — that was compiled when I started writing this post — arrived here at 9 o'clock in the morning:
 <1> ARP1_0005714_139_0 Linux Debian Error 2023-05-06T23:39:43 2023-05-12T23:40:43
<1> ARP1_0005714_139_1 Linux Ubuntu P. Valid. 2023-05-07T00:22:27 2023-05-09T17:19:39
<1> * ARP1_0005714_139_2 Fedora Linux In Progr. 2023-05-14T08:59:34 2023-05-17T08:59:34
That is more than 33 hours after the deadline of task _0.

Do you see what is happening here?

In the meantime I've received another two ARP1-taskssmile, I've numbered them -1 and -2:
<-1> ARP1_0013580_139_0 Linux Ubuntu P. Valid. 2023-05-07T01:41:53 2023-05-10T09:14:16
<-1> ARP1_0013580_139_1 Linux Ubuntu Error 2023-05-07T01:45:05 2023-05-13T01:45:23
<-1> * ARP1_0013580_139_2 Fedora Linux In Progr. 2023-05-14T12:06:57 2023-05-17T12:06:57

<-2> ARP1_0013231_139_0 Linux Ubuntu P. Valid. 2023-05-07T01:41:53 2023-05-10T10:03:06
<-2> ARP1_0013231_139_1 Linux Ubuntu Error 2023-05-07T01:45:05 2023-05-13T01:45:23
<-2> * ARP1_0013231_139_2 Fedora Linux In Progr. 2023-05-14T12:15:27 2023-05-17T12:15:27

It looks like the resends are being distributed at a slower pace in the weekend, I think some sort of 'braking system' has been introduced and I believe it has been put in place by the techs last Friday, to relief the system from any download/upload problems, should they arise.

Adri
EDIT: I overlooked number 0 nerd :
 <0> ARP1_0014398_139_0 Linux Ubuntu P. Valid. 2023-05-07T01:41:53 2023-05-10T11:07:26
<0> ARP1_0014398_139_1 Linux Ubuntu Error 2023-05-07T01:45:05 2023-05-13T01:45:23
<0> * ARP1_0014398_139_2 Fedora Linux In Progr. 2023-05-14T12:06:57 2023-05-17T12:06:57

Re: Work Available

I think you are on to something Adriverhoef. I think there is a delay or slowing of ARP WUs being sent out. https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/contribution/workunit/301881105 This is my work unit that has a "waiting to be sent" status on it.

Your explanation is as good as any, but the error on your 44 seems to be an oddity - it waited 5 days before even being created! Or maybe it was but was delayed until its deadline.
