Re: Work Available

I've managed to return 2 completed ARP WUs !! The upload went smoothly. I'm getting the dreaded no tasks are available message now. UG!
I predict a flood of resends on Nov 6 as people may have made their queues too long.

It will be interesting to see what happens on the 4th when the project officially starts back up. This was a "soft start", purposefully. Maybe having us all download the application files now, a few days before the 4th, will make the 4th go [more] smoothly. Interested to see how much work they make available. Either way, we all should pack our patience on the 4th.

Re: Work Available

I'm down to crunching one last straggler (ARP1_0008967_127_2), which turned out to be a verification job rather than a resend. That's a rather old generation number as well. (edit: forgot that 8967 was the zone)

So far, all of the other ones I've turned in are either validated or awaiting the wingman. I'd say it's looking good for the official launch, other than making sure the network doesn't buckle under the load.

Re: Work Available

I took a look at the Results Log on one of my WUs. I found the times (2019??) to be interesting as well "simulation". I don't have any old log files to compare it to, so I don't know if this has changed.

Re: Work Available

Unixchick,
The recent ARP restart update here says that "The start date of the one year simulation is 2018-07-01 and will end when calculating data for 2019-06-30".
Cheers,
Mark

Re: Work Available

Unixchick

The date/time refers to when the data was taken. Each unit crunches 48 hours of a specific patch of Africa during the 48 hours shown in the log.

We are crunching historic data which seems long ago now because of the problems we have had but was not so historic when we started.

Re: Work Available

Thank you Mark and Mike for your replies. It has been too long and I've forgotten everything. I'm also having a hard time waiting for Monday.

Agreed- things look good. About 50% have been validated and the rest of ours are awaiting validation or in progess (we recently received a few).

Re: Work Available

Unixchick/Jean-David Beyer

Your units will be from generation 130.

Paul

2019-06-30 does complete the year but that year only has 365 days and each unit covers 2 days, so I think 2019-07-01 will be more likely unless the last gereration (182) is stopped halfway through.
