Re: Work Available

we need to attract money in order to do free work?

I'm sorry, i thought we were donating our computing power. It feels like the vision of distributed computing is about dead...

In medical research we are disturbing the idea of the Pharmalobby to become a completely public financed sector without any risk for their stakeholders.

We are cheaper with no interest in selling anything. So without their revenue driven perspective we are a great danger for their business model.

Re: Work Available

Sadly, many projects run on a shoestring budget. Exceptions are things like LHC which has a big budget. My primary project (CPDN) like WCG since IBM stopped funding it would run a lot better if someone put more money in. The people who have taken WCG on clearly do not have anything close to the resources of IBM. That isn't a criticism, but a fact of life. It would be nice if someone with money decided that the climate was a higher priority but I am not holding my breath.

Re: Work Available

When IBM were running things, they had a monthly call to each project and reported on to us what had been said.

Could this be reinstated please?

Mike

Hi Mike,

The WCG team does have monthly calls with the team for each project. We try to provide updates with any new information that is available, but there is not always news to share. Hopefully, I will be able to get some updates out after our next set of calls.

Re: Work Available

Thanks TigerLily. No news is better than nothing. We would really like to know what is happening at Delft as regards their storage issue especially as we have lots of crunchers on here who understand a great deal about these matters.

It would be a very good thing for the project if Krembil could advance those 3 ultra extreme units, which are 80 generations behind the others, which would take a very small amount of storage just for them.

Regards

Mike

Re: Work Available

Hi Mike,

I do not have any specific information about the storage issue beyond the fact that they are in the process of moving to a different storage system since their current storage is insufficient. I will provide updates on the situation as they become available.
