Ouch!!! Just tripped my main breaker and with so few checkpoints I just lost 10 days work, money down the drain. We need more checkpoints!!! Don't blame WCG because you overloaded your system. If you'd read the requirements you would have known more checkpoints are not possible with this app. https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,41906 Due to limitations in the application, we are only able to take 8 checkpoints during each workunit.
In 1969 I took an oath to defend and protect the U S Constitution against all enemies, both foreign and Domestic. There was no expiration date.

nanoprobe, I read the requirements first. I didn't blame WCG for tripping my breaker, I blame them for having so few checkpoints.

Think the input sample timing is 6 hourly at WRF source, so 8 checkpoints becomes 48 hours. |

Money down the drain, lost 10 days of work, we need more checkpoints sure sounds like blame to me but whatever. If you read the requirements and knew beforehand that more checkpoints were not possible then what do you hope to accomplish by asking for more when it's already been explained that's not happening?

I got one: ARP1_ 0000281_ 000_ 1-- Microsoft Windows 10 Core x64 Edition, (10.00.18362.00) 727 Pending Validation 30/10/19 19:38:50 31/10/19 19:59:06 13,51 320,9 / 0,0 Ryzen 2500u. Pretty sure it ran most of the time with turbo on (up to 3.6 Ghz) since it was the only task running. Validated correctly. Wingman took 40 CPU hours. Got 535,3 credit AMD Ryzen 5 1600AF 6C/12T 3.2 GHz - 85W AMD Ryzen 5 2500U 4C/8T 2.0 GHz - 28W AMD Ryzen 7 7730U 8C/16T 3.0 GHz |

With 1000 cores and $100k equipment costs, should really invest in UPSs to cover the full load. I only have 4-5 older devices, but they're all on UPS. Curious, do you have a dedicated datacenter room in the basement and got an electrician to come install huge circuits? I want something like that someday.

Is it impossible to make checkpoints more frequent than 3 hours??? I bet they could add more checkpoints if they apply themselves and make it a priority.
----------------------------------------When ARP goes full stream the loss from a computer crash will result in 5 times the loss it does now. Maybe it's impossible but since IBM has provided no explanation I think they just have had much bigger issues to solve. The production roll out has been impressive. With 8 checkpoints and 1 day estimate, that means a maximum loss of 3 hours per thread. 10 days loss means at least 80 threads involved. I would suggest there are 2 options. One would be a UPS, but you would need to either fix the problem quickly or hibernate everything to give you more time. The other would be to split your circuitry so that only some would be affected. (Or both, of course.)

Just got my first 2 units 2966 & 2989 - both iteration 000. This means only 6000 WUs have been issued so far and 2400 returned.

With 100K in equipment and $1000+/month electric bill, that is one expensive hobby. That is a substantial commitment, more power to you. And with about $250 in equipment and a $200 a month electric bill (just the WCG portion), my better half thinks I am overspending. I let her know it could be worse, like wine, women and song, but she's the best to put up with me.
