The reason that the U.S. is so far ahead of other countries on vaccines is that we encourage high-tech startups. They must get patents to protect their intellectual property. Otherwise, the investors will find something to invest in, such as Bitcoin. Try curing COVID-19 with that.

Over a period of four years, an FDA investigator inspected generic drug manufacturing plants in India and China, and found evidence of fraud in four-fifths of the plants

Feedback: Katherine Eban's book features a young FDA investigator named Peter Baker. He inspected 86 plants in India and China over a 4-year period, from 2012 to 2016, and found evidence of fraud in four-fifths of those plants. For more information, see: Eban, K. (2019) Bottle of Lies: The Inside Story of the Generic Drug Boom. ECCO PRESS

World-first COVID-19 antiviral therapy developed in Brisbane and US targets virus in the body

Queensland researchers and a US team have developed an antiviral therapy that has killed off the COVID-19 viral load in infected mice by 99.9 per cent.

[It's delivered by injection over 4 or 5 days and is intended for patients in the ICU. Possibly available for humans in 2023.]

Re: Interesting News Articles About OPN1 - COVID-19 Novel Coronavirus

Not a news article but a report on Australian TV on May 21 about the Astrazeneca vaccine and blood clotting.

In Australia of 2.1 million doses delivered, 24 patients experienced blood clots or about 11.4 incidents per million. Of those affected there has been one death, two patients are still in hospital and twenty-one patients have been released, presumably recovered.
