no configs for either, exist. I searched the entire BOINC program folder, nothing.

Update: and it's back to square one, only requesting work for the GPU.

But where is your global_prefs.xml content for that has a copy of the settings per your HOME profile which it says in log it's using.

lavaflow, I searched my entire PC with windows' search function, and no such file exists. I even broadened the search to .xml - and no files with that ending exists on my hard drive.

It MUST exist, so maybe you should looking in the boinc DATA directory which is different to the boinc PROGRAM directory. The path is actually printed in the log: Data directory: C:\ProgramData\BOINC
----------------------------------------Sometimes you need to have permission, but file explorer will tell you when navigating there. PS, maybe you will find those other files too you said were not there. [Edit 2 times, last edit by Former Member at Jul 28, 2020 7:46:46 PM] |

Yoerik,
I believe if you pull up your event log again, we might see if it's still using WCG for your profile. But when I view your preferences from the website, it has use at most x processors as nothing. This is odd if it was set from our site, which makes me believe another boinc project is changing this on yours. Also, you have xml in your global prefs that we don't use in WCG. Also, if you're looking for the BOINC data directory, it is 'hidden' on Windows. Pull up the file explorer, and type in the data directory path as lavaflow has. There is NOT a space between Program and Data. Note: since you are participating in more than one BOINC project (World Community Grid is considered a BOINC Project, Rosetta@Home is a different BOINC Project). My guess is that your client did the updates in this order: 1. WCG Update <-- Pulled down the version you fixed on our site 2. WCG Update #2 <-- Downloaded actual cpu work 3. Update to other BOINC Project <-- It pulled down a new global prefs (this site might not be behaving properly or their timestamps are wrong) 4. WCG Update <-- This pushed the new global prefs that you got from step 3 to WCG. And is preventing your client from asking for new CPU work. Thanks, -Uplinger |

Lavaflow - I did as you and Uplinger stated, went into the program data and feel like an even bigger idiot, lmao.
----------------------------------------I found global_prefs - and I attempted the suggestion Uplinger mentioned, to fill in that blank processor preference on WCG's end, it updated the global_prefs file accordingly, and it had no impact on work fetch, after several attempts to ensure it wasn't causing the issue. The global_prefs file after I made said change: <global_preferences> <source_project>http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/</source_project> yoerik,
If you could, please send your sched_request_*.xml and sched_reply_*.xml files to support@worldcommunitygrid.org and put ATTN: Uplinger in the subject. This will make sure they get to me. I can explore what your computer is sending and possibly figure out what the issue is. It could be something that requires debugging against the scheduler and having those will allow me to recreate it. Also, just to make sure my logic from before was sound, can you do a project update on the 3 other BOINC Projects twice and then shutdown BOINC and restart it so we can see what it says the global prefs are? Thanks, -Uplinger |

yoerik,
I've looked at your sched_request. It shows that your client is not requesting any work because it already has 6 tasks that it believes are running on your machine. On the website I see 6 tasks in progress as well for you. If you can, go into advanced mode on the client and click on the tasks tab. Do you see these tasks there? As for the detached work units, they may have been scheduled to run on your computer, but when you mention in your first post about reinstalling WCG. This is where that classification comes from. They will remove from your result status page when other members process and the results are completed on WCG. Thanks, -Uplinger |
