My client is trying to download a file which stalls. Uploads continue but it will not request any new work due to the stalled download. This has happened a few times in the past few weeks. aborting the download, closing boinc, re starting boinc allows new downloads but also seeks to download the problem file again so I soon run out of work. Any help would be appreciated. Peter

Did you recently do a cleanout of the BOINC data directory? It's a file of a long past beta that somehow is still listed in your BOINC's 'must have' list, at least my BOINC Data directory only has the recent beta17 and beta28 files still in the wcg project folder.

@lavaflow I checked my other two machines, neither have that file. The problem machine does have an entry for the file, todays date and size 0 (the indicated file size in the transfer tab showed 16MB). I deleted the file from the directory, aborted the stalled transfer and so far, keeping fingers crossed, things are back to normal. I will watch it closely for 24 hours then do a reboot as a final check. Thank you for your help. Peter

Update on the problem. Everything worked for 48 hours following the deletion of the stalled file from my boinc directory, however I rebooted the machine as a final check and now it wants that file again. As @lavaflow said, it must be on my "must have list". Is a complete uninstall of boinc going to help and if so what do I need to do to achieve that. Thanks Peter.

Reset should do it.
----------------------------------------That will delete all data files, clear the list, then download new list and files. I used to do that on old PCs short on space to drop old betas and projects. Paul.

I have completed the reset and it appears to have solved the problem. At least it has removed all of the beta tga files from the directory. Thank you to all who offered advice. Will mark this thread as completed after 24 hours. Peter
