Typical result for my GTX980 Strix
i7-4790K/iGPU HD4600 Workunit: BETA_OPNG_0022009_00187_1 Runtime: 00:04:09 CPU Time: 00:04:05 Long time average CPU%: 98,39 Memory: 231.73 MB Virtual Memory: 337.62 MB https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/device/...og.do?resultId=1543973612 But the credits for these of 0.4 is maybe just a little tiny bit too low, eh? ![]() (I Know Uplinger haven't looked into the credit issue yet) |

JohnDK asked :
Is there a way to run 2 WUs on Nvidia and only 1 on Intel? According to the app_config configuration found at https://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/client_configuration it looks like the plan_class statement needs to go after an <app_version> statement. Maybe something like this: <app_config> I don't have an Intel GPU so I can't test it, but maybe it will get you headed in the right direction. |

I got some more Betas on the machine with the GT730 card and they errored out, updated the driver from version 416 to version 461.09 which was the latest on the Asus website and they still errored out.
I was at the PC this time when the units arrived and when they errored out they did so in style. They caused the graphics driver to crash and restart about 1 min into processing each unit, which is how I was alerted to look for new Beta units. It's a 64 bit card (some variants of this model are only 32 bit I believe) with 64 bit O/S. I've been unable to discover any means of determining whether it is capable of double precision operations though. |

JohnDK, did you tell BOINC Manager to "Read config files" after updating the app_config file? Did you get any error messages when you "Read config files"?

I can't even get BOINC to run 2 GPU tasks.
----------------------------------------<app_config> <app> <name>beta29</name> <gpu_versions> <gpu_usage>0.5</gpu_usage> <cpu_usage>1</cpu_usage> </gpu_versions> /app> </app_config> BOINC correctly says a task is running with 1 CPU + 0.5 AMD/ATI GPUs but runs just 1 task. AMD Ryzen 5 1600AF 6C/12T 3.2 GHz - 85W AMD Ryzen 5 2500U 4C/8T 2.0 GHz - 28W AMD Ryzen 7 7730U 8C/16T 3.0 GHz |

I'm seeing the same behavior as Bozz4science.
My tasks should be checkpointing every 600 seconds, but instead they're constantly writing to the SSD. The file sizes are small, and SSDs can disperse attention between cells to evenly wear down the device. However, if the SSD is already mostly full, the same free sectors can get attention every few seconds. I'd imagine with a fast card and over a few months, that might become a problem. I'm using a 1070Ti and there's plenty of room in RAM. Perhaps a future version of the software can store discrete GPU results in RAM and integrated GPU results on the hard drive? |
