Re: OpenPandemics GPU Beta Test - March 26 2021 [ Issues Thread ]

I'm still getting the exceeded elapsed time limit error on occasion with the ATI Radeon HD 5770 https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/device/...og.do?resultId=1600747174

Re: OpenPandemics GPU Beta Test - March 26 2021 [ Issues Thread ]

Nanoprobe and FritzB,

Thank you for the information. It has uncovered a bug in the way credit is granted. Basically the 3rd result being returned is correct but it's credit is only being granted a percentage of what they completed against the total points that the canonical result was granted. So, in the example from the first one, they all only did about 45% of the initial estimated results. The one that was marked as canonical result was _3 which was granted 710 points. Then the 3rd valid result returned did a multiplier percentage against the 710 points and not the starting points. I will be working towards a fix, but it is minor and should not require additional testing.

Thanks,
-Uplinger

Thanks for the update. Glad we were able to keep you busy working and not eating pizza. biggrin
Hopefully no more bugs and full production can get under way soon.

Re: OpenPandemics GPU Beta Test - March 26 2021 [ Issues Thread ]

For those who are interested stats to lunchtime are
04/01/2021 0:013:18:12:32 19,319,839 3,051

19.3 million points equates to approximately 13 3/4 days worth of work. I rounded points down

This time I didn't get any tasks as I was asleep & my computer was turned off

it is certainly nice to see the points boost since 1 March I have added 400,000 points, these have not all come from beta tasks but it is fair to say that it is the driving factor I think it would be fair to say I have gained about 75,000 from beta

I have just deployed a fix for the points issue that you caught. This is good to go...back to building up a backlog of work :)

Thanks,

Re: OpenPandemics GPU Beta Test - March 26 2021 [ Issues Thread ]

Pleased you managed to get a fix in place. I like the sound of that without giving anything away :)

if the statistics for CPU/GPU work are combined t will be interesting to see how much the average run time goes up or down depending on how long the GPU tasks run for

Once again thank you for your overall work on this

EdIT = added piece about statistics

Re: OpenPandemics GPU Beta Test - March 26 2021 [ Issues Thread ]

Good evening,

Ok, I lied about the last beta. On the assimilator to package the results, I am storing them differently then we did for opn1. I need to modify this and run a clean beta tomorrow. Only a few batches and we will see it in action. I plan on this for tomorrow morning. Probably another 10 batches.

Thanks,
-Uplinger

Re: OpenPandemics GPU Beta Test - March 26 2021 [ Issues Thread ]

Not getting any GPU tasks at all.

none for me either, despite editing my profile file to accept Nvidia GPU jobs weeks ago.

Same here. Guess we'll have to wait till the stable version is distributed.

*taps feet and mumbles 'patience, my young padawan'*

Shut down and restart the BOINC client. Then check the log file to make sure BOINC is recognizing your video card. If the log says "no usable GPU found" you will not receive GPU tasks. If it recognizes your GPU then your just having back luck getting betas.

Thanks for the reply. I've done all that several times (even re-installing), and I crunch 24/7/365.
But I'll wait for it to happen.
