Re: Work unit availability

This all seems like a lot of manipulations for incredibly little return. Unless the rate of GPU work creation increases significantly, the odds at this point of any single user getting much GPU work to speak of are practically nil.

Yep, more than 12 hours now since I've seen any GPU work, and that was 2 iGPU tasks. 21 hours since I last finished any Nvidia tasks. Only 81600 WU's/day means that there's a much bigger chance to win a million in the lottery, than getting any GPU work.

But to end this post on a positive note: There's spring in the air. smile

Uplinger said it would be a slow roll out. The work will come, give it time.

Re: Work unit availability

I'm figuring these work units are going to be a bit sporadic. For me, a bunch went by in my sleep early this morning, but I haven't seen any in about eight hours since then. I do at least keep my queue fairly short on the Ryzen/GTX 960 box.

Then I need a lottery ticket. On my AMD Radeon HD 7770 I got 101 so far.
On my Intel iGPU HD Graphics 4400 I got 'only' 3 and that's now almost 1 day ago and all three still pending validation.

Re: Work unit availability

I'm picking up bursts of Nvidia tasks. But when they have dried up I've always seen, both in the beta and live, the event log reporting that tasks for AMD/ATI GPU and for Intel GPU are available but my preferences are not set to accept them - which is quite true as I only have Nvidia selected. I had assumed this meant that the Nvidia ones were being gobbled up very quickly but that there was always a plentiful supply of the others. But comments here don't seem to support that. Any idea what's going on there?

I was going to ask whether the ratio of tasks for the 3 GPU types is fixed or could be varied to reflect the units consumed by each type, but now I don't know whether that is a valid question.

Re: Work unit availability

This second option only makes sense if you already have a VM running on the computer. For example, a few of my Windows machines have Linux VMs so I can run Linux-only when needed.

Did this work? I have couple of extra VMs on my Win machine.

do those VMs have GPUs passed through to them? this thread is about GPU work after all.

GPU is run on the host machine, all CPU cores on VM(s). Or that's the impression I got.
