Re: Work unit availability

I my book it means maybe every 20-40 mins, not, until now, 1h30m. But who knows.

I'm still getting a few windows tasks but nothing on Linux for a while.

Re: Work unit availability

what's the purpose of waiting 9 years for a new GPU project & the programming effort so a task runs 500 times faster if the vast majority of batches are still reserved for CPUs?
Ramping up to make sure things are running correctly all through the process ?

Re: Work unit availability

The statement of on average every 30 minutes is that we run a create work script that loads the work into BOINC every 30 minutes. However to keep it fair for everyone to get work, we are doing the same random interval. So say i have it configured to run at 00:02 and 00:32, but with random, it adds up to 20 minutes (I think, would have to look at the code to confirm) based on a random number. That means it could start at 00:22 and 00:35 because the random number is created and added every time the application starts.

I do understand the extreme want and desire for more. But please review this post I made about the pipeline. I hope that helps explain some of why we are at 1700 per 30 minutes.

From what I've read we don't have confirmation that the ratio between the work units is expected to change past today.

Uplinger, I see your reply - your link posts to what you've written about work unit credit and the differences in job size, but it's not explicit why this would result in boundless CPU tasks but less work for GPUs than anticipated.
