Re: GPU Work Units - Post Your Tech Support Questions Here

I also got a few that ends as with "too late". This was in 2 min from download to upload. Other wingmans got invalid result so i don't get it. Server should abort or not send out if not needed.
Definition `Too Late` is when task have passed deadline in these type of work OPNG have 1 week. That is on default to boinc servers so these task are false tagged with incorrect output/outcome.

There several opinions as to why a task is labelled to late but being past the deadline is not one of them. If a task is not run within the 1 week allowed it is labelled by the server as no reply.

To quote PMH_UK from another thread:
oo late is set when a unit is returned but max Invalids already returned.
Also when others validated OK then unit returned so too late to validate.

So it looks like the too late was returned just after(1 second) the max invalids(3) was reached.

Validation procces for work unit should occure when all task send back. Other project include all task taken it into procces if task started and got it back.
There is rule to to minimum replications and should have higher target example 10 to allow all task to counted and chance to be used.

"No reply" Should be if project is set to suspended or client have been prevented in some way and therefore not able to report status to server.

Re: GPU Work Units - Post Your Tech Support Questions Here

It's either a problem with the windows driver for that card, or (more likely) a problem with the windows_nvidia opng application with that card.

even during beta that level of card had consistent issues on windows, but works on linux.

don't think you'll be able to get a GT710 working on anything but linux

I am glad to hear that. I have a 2GB version running on Ubuntu for the last several days and its never even gotten a single WU. That's in spite of it being precisely programmed to ask twice every 5 minutes. I know there isn't much work now but there was days ago. Hopefully they load enough units I can get a few to test it. My Linux box is a big monster so there is plenty of room to run cards in it.

I booted the PC which now holds the GT 710 card that previously resulted in failed jobs on Windows up with Xubuntu Linux 20.04 with the recommended (non-free) NVIDIA driver and it resulted in a valid job. I'm not sure what the benefit is since it took 2.4 hours to run while normal (CPU) jobs on that system completed in less time, but it gave me quite some points. This system had 4 cores so I limited it to use 3 (75%) and when the GPU job arrived it used the extra CPU core for it. Concluding for the issue on Windows since the exact same device works on Linux: it's the driver stupid!

Maybe it's the driver, but it is also a completely other app, that runs on Linux... :?

[edit] I have similar problem with GT 640 on Windows 10.

Re: GPU Work Units - Post Your Tech Support Questions Here

Batch 4091 is also bugged.
Got two units, OPNG_ 0004091_ 00580_ 2 & OPNG_ 0004091_ 00221_ 3.

Everybody who attempted these tasks has failed.
The first was invalid and the second was "too late" after computing for 64 seconds.

Re: GPU Work Units - Post Your Tech Support Questions Here

Hi and sorry for the double post, just noticed this thread.

Anyways, I have three laptops with Intel GPUs. During last two week only one of this laptops has received Intel GPU WUs, the one with AMD+Intel GPU.

Remaining Intel UHD GPU and Intel HD 520 GPU doesnt seem to get any.

Is there anything, that I could do about that? I have reinstalled clients, rebooted machines, reseted project, disabled/enabled 10min auto update script etc made sure I got the latest drivers, windows10 is up to date etc

Re: GPU Work Units - Post Your Tech Support Questions Here

Ok, I'm really lost now.

Tried to add app_config.xml to see, if it'd make any difference.

now when starting boinc I get this

20/04/2021 18:13:57 | World Community Grid | Found app_config.xml
20/04/2021 18:13:57 | World Community Grid | Your app_config.xml file refers to an unknown application 'opng'. Known applications: None
20/04/2021 18:14:02 | World Community Grid | General prefs: from World Community Grid (last modified 20-Apr-2021 16:15:56)
20/04/2021 18:14:02 | World Community Grid | Computer location: home

reinstalled the client, but same problem persists.

Here's the app_config.xml

<app_config>
<app>
<name>opng</name>
<max_concurrent>2</max_concurrent>
<gpu_versions>
<gpu_usage>0.5</gpu_usage>
<cpu_usage>0.75</cpu_usage>

Re: GPU Work Units - Post Your Tech Support Questions Here

You need to download an OPNG task before you app_config file “see” it. Your file looks OK but the max_concurrent line is not needed. The gpu_usage will determine how many tasks will run concurrently. .5=2, .33=3, .25=4 and so on.
