Re: GPU Work Units - Post Your Tech Support Questions Here

OK, second question: I completed around 3-4 GPU WUs, but they all completed in under ten minutes. That seems erroneous. How can I troubleshoot this?

WHat's your GPU? That doesn't seem erroneous at all.

Re: GPU Work Units - Post Your Tech Support Questions Here

Has anyone got a good solution for a host with different GPUs in it? From the limited number of workunits I've snagged so far, it looks as though my NV RTX could manage 3 or 4 simultaneously, but the onboard Intel would probably be best at one.
My current app_config is set to run them 2 at a time with a core for each (can't seem to separate the NV and Intel), but that's wasting nearly two whole cores due to the low demand for the Intel workunits

check the options for project level configuration here: https://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/Client_configuration

Long story short, you need to separate your devices by type. BOINC gives you this ability to separate by plan class (which will separate by device type)

[<app_version>
<app_name>Application_Name</app_name>
[<plan_class>mt</plan_class>]
[<avg_ncpus>x</avg_ncpus>]
[<ngpus>x</ngpus>]
[<cmdline>--nthreads 7</cmdline>]
</app_version>]

EPYC 7B12 / [5] RTX 3080Ti + [2] RTX 2080Ti
EPYC 7B12 / [6] RTX 3070Ti + [2] RTX 3060
[2] EPYC 7642 / [2] RTX 2080Ti

Re: GPU Work Units - Post Your Tech Support Questions Here

I am receiving multiple GPU WUs for OpenPandemics, however every single one ends with a "Computation error". I have successfully run WUs on my GPU in the past (both OpenPandemics & SETI@Home). Any suggestions on how to resolve these errors?

CPU: Intel i3-3240
OS: Windows 10, version 20H2
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GT 740, driver version 466.11

Since the 22th of April all my OPNG are ending up with a "Computation error".
Not sure what is going on right now.

Adding to my last, it pays to do a reboot after a software update, even though it didn't say so after the updates.

Anytime the video drivers are updated, you must reboot the machine since the kernel has been recompiled with the new video drivers.

I agree as I have "turned it off & back on again" several times prior to posting.

Thanks for confirming I'm not the only one experiencing this issue. I hope it gets resolved in the near future.

Re: GPU Work Units - Post Your Tech Support Questions Here

Thank you Ian n Steve - that was just what I needed

In case others end up here for a similar problem, my complete app_config ended up as:

<app_config>
<app_version>
<app_name>opng</app_name>
<plan_class>opencl_nvidia_102</plan_class>
<avg_ncpus>1</avg_ncpus>
<ngpus>0.3</ngpus>
</app_version>
<app_version>
<app_name>opng</app_name>
<plan_class>opencl_intel_gpu_102</plan_class>
<avg_ncpus>0.05</avg_ncpus>
<ngpus>1</ngpus>
</app_version>
</app_config>

app_name and plan_class are subject to change and can be found in client_state. Natch, YMMV
