Re: Download Issues, Redux (or why I gave up on BOINC last time)

OK right now late evening, download from Krembil WCG is going at 44.48 KBps according to BOINC.. WTF? My downloads from every other site go 100 times faster.
If I had one or two thousand dollars a month, I could support ten times that download speed. No "BIg pipe" here
Maybe we should support Krembil with a reasonably priced internet service?
I think I could pay that with about my monthly mortgage payment and internet payment, but then I'd be offlline and could not contribute

Signing off from one what was once a fave project. I'll keep one or two machines on this failing project just in case IBM remunerates Krembil for taking a pig in a poke. Sorry Krembil, Curse IBM, again.

Re: Download Issues, Redux (or why I gave up on BOINC last time)

So, there is an issue with downloads. (download 107 byte and stop)
A tool already exist to pass thru that issue (boinccmd --network_available)
and you are not using this tool made by Boinc for project boinc
I don't understand ...
Why keep complaining when you could crush WUs ?

My GPU compute WUs as fast as I'm crushing bubble wrap.

Do you actually realize that just running automated download retries is likely to exaggerate the overall issue for little gain? angry

Or for Linux users the more subtle wcgresults with option -x from:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/wcgtools/files/

"Do you actually realize that just running automated download retries is likely to exaggerate the overall issue for little gain?"
I've got 3 PCs with all CPU's threads used and with WUs waiting to be crushed.

For OPNG it's different : WUs are crushed faster than they are downloaded.(2mn)

Re: Download Issues, Redux (or why I gave up on BOINC last time)

I understand what you mean.
It only accelerate downloading and prevent fails downloads to be removed from project.
And when all downloads are done it become useless until your boinc_client ask for new tasks.
It not access to WCG site, it only access locally to your boinc_client.
So 90% of time it has no effect on the issue.
Preventing that a task is removed from the project due to a site issue is not exaggerating.

Thanks for confirming that you ABSOLUTELY don't understand what I was talking about. Your above response has made that crystal clear...

Ralf

PS: I do realize that English is not your native language and was giving you the benefit of a doubt, but the above response leaves no doubt...
