Thank you indeed - lung cancer was first, then ovarian cancer and now sarcoma. Those were selected as we have been working on them. Taking on WCG kept us more than busy - but we have been considering the future one - and pancreatic cancer was on the list, due to its devastating prognosis. It has not been decided yet though thank you for the support igor Bravo ! Thank you for the reply. Cheers

Thanks for the update. Did WCG suffer from the network problem at UHN?? See https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/ont-uhn-1.6708319 Thamks again, Jay WCG tweeted: Due to UHN hospitals experiencing a network outage, we are unable to do anything until the DNS servers are back up. But according to latest news from this morning, yesterday's issue was supposed to be NOT ransomware related: https://www.cp24.com/news/uhn-says-digital-sy...by-cyber-attack-1.6224338 Haven't seen any offiicial response from the Krembil folks so far... My links are not old news. Look at the current tweets. The link to the ransomware attack on Sick Childrens Hospital is from January 5th. That's old news, don't care for any tweets...Ralf ![]() |

I'm have three machines running native BOINC clients and one machine running the IBM branded WCG client.
----------------------------------------The one machine running the IBM branded WCG client had no issues downloading, uploading and reporting work during the outage last night. The three machines running native BOINC clients were not able to download, upload or report work during the outage last night. It would be interesting to know why the IBM branded WCG client was not impacted by the outage. IBM branded WCG client (7.14.3) - OK Krembil downloaded client (7.16.11) - NOT OK Ubuntu Linux client (7.16.6) - NOT OK [Edit 1 times, last edit by AgrFan at Jan 11, 2023 1:47:50 AM] |

I'm have three machines running native BOINC clients and one machine running the IBM branded WCG client. I don't know how and when you determined that the one specific BOINC client was able to communicate, but I had checked about a dozen machines yesterday when I became aware of the problem, with a mix of WCG branded clients as well as BOINC branded one, and NONE of them could upload, report and download. I was also not able to "ping" or "trace" to worldcommunitygrid.org, with error messages indicating that the authoritative DNS servers were not accessible. That all indicates a pretty hard shutdown, where I don't see how a single, specific application would be able to "sneak in through the backdoor"... ![]() Ralf ![]() |

I was watching that machine during the outage. I was able to get to the website/forums also. Slowly, but everything appeared to be up. I thought it strange there were no forum posts reporting there was a problem. Unfortunately, I did not check the website/forums on the failing machines. Here are a few units that were successfully returned during the outage on the machine running the IBM branded WCG client. If the network outage was a problem with DNS, is it possible that the working PC had a hosts file containing an entry for world community grid which did the translation from URL to an IP address?
