2023-09-29 Update (OPNG work unit update)

We have paused the release of OPNG work units as several users have reported that many work units are being marked as invalid. The tech team has identified the issue and is working on fixing it. Thank you for your understanding.

Thanx TigerLily for this!
Also a Tech replied about this in another thread explaining about a faulty script.
This is the information flow we so badly want.
Thanx again and please keep it up!

Re: 2023-09-29 Update (OPNG work unit update)

TigerLily, do you by-chance know if the work they're doing on the OPNG script will also fix the issue of never-ending GPU WU's? [https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg...ead,45744_offset,0#689712]

It eventually affected several machines here, but not all -- I thought it was due to the brand-new BOINC Windows Client on two that I was testing, and started to report as a bug to BOINC-Berkeley, but found it on (3) other boxes with older Clients. Others ran fine. It's not Manufacturer, Processor, or GPU-brand specific so made me wonder about the WU itself.

I turned GPU off on all systems last week, but have turned it back on for half the machines to see if it returns since I hate to lose that functionality.

Just curious. Thanks...

Hi Spiderman,

Sorry for the delayed response! I forwarded this to the tech team and will let you know if there are any updates regarding this never-ending GPU WU issue.

Re: 2023-09-29 Update (OPNG work unit update)

I haven't had one of those is quite some time, like not at all this year.

Out of the over 14k shown on my Results page...there are 0 (zero) that have ran for more than 30 min. And that's is on a slower 1660ti GPU.

You may have a GPU/driver crashing on you causing your GPU to noot be actually processing anything?

Re: 2023-09-29 Update (OPNG work unit update)

Hi bluestang.

I don't rightly know what's going-on, but it's happening on multiple machines, multiple GPU types, and multiple Machine Vendors (Dell, HP). A couple others reported seeing it as well.

I gave-up and turned-off GPU processing on all but one that I know it works on.

That's okay -- my main WCG goal is Cancer, so MCM and SCC are keeping things hopping.

Thanks for the reply...
