Yes, I can confirm that the Device profile issue is solved, for now.

Re: 2024-02-17 (Device profile issue) again.....

After the latest outage, changes to the Device Profile settings, no longer propagates to the BOINC client. This problem seems to come back every time after an outage.

Yup; user crashtech reported one effect of this quite early on (but in the Feedback forum...) and I made some changes a few days later to see if it had started working... It hadn't, and still hasn't :-(

One small detail -- changing the device profile assignment from one venue to another does get passed to the client, and the server seems to respect different values of the per-project quotas in the profiles; however, the values used are pre-outage values, not the values to which I have since changed them.

Cheers - Al.

P.S. As a side-effect of testing this, I ended up switching between the default profile and a named profile; this resulted in more log spam because of the failure to get a valid global preferences modification time from a named venue. I eventually spent a couple of days building my own 7.24.1 client with some patches to make sure that it always gets that time.

I changed from one named profile to another, that had the changes in it that I wanted, and that worked. In my case, that did not result in any extra log spam.I'm only attached to WCG though, and no other projects.

I reported this "Device Profile" issue also to the team, through the "Contact" page on this site. After TigerLily left the building, it seems as if the team very seldom visits this message board.

@Grumpy Swede

Changing Device Profile settings should work now. Please report if the issue persists.

Re: 2024-10-26 (Device profile issue) again.....

Thank you Savas.
I can confirm that the Device profile settings is now propagated to the BOINC client, as can be seen from this BOINC client message:

29-Oct-2024 18:42:11 [World Community Grid] General prefs: from World Community Grid (last modified 29-Oct-2024 18:40:43)

Re: 2024-10-26 (Device profile issue) again.....

Thank you, savas :-)

This is just to confirm that profile changes that don't affect the general preferences (so no client message!) have also been actioned -- my MCM1 task quota for my largest system can now get enough work to have a small buffer against brief supply issues (a change that I made over a week ago and had been waiting for!...)

Cheers - Al.

I do get client messages for every change I make, even quota (number of tasks) changes. In fact, I even get a new client message if the only thing i do in the device profile setting, is to press "save", without having changed anything. (All my BOINC clients use Local Preferences)

I really like that, because I can instantly (at the next client update), see that the settings have propagated to the client.
