Completed WUs not being uploaded
I have been attempting to upload completed WUs without success. The snapshot below is from the event log. Does anyone have any ideas on what the problem is?

The first thing I can think of is to reboot the machine.... But first

It's a connection problem. Go to the machine and open a command prompt and ping 8.8.8.8

OR open a browser and go to any site OR enter a search request and let the default search engine take over.

Is there a response? If not check all the connections up to the router.

If yes then reboot.

What version client are you using? What OS?

I am running Windows 11 Home Build 22631 with Boinc Manager 7.24.1 (x64). This is a problem I have been investigating for a number of days, initially thinking it was a firewall configuration problem, so the machine has been rebooted multiple times. My browsers have been unaffected but one other application, Dell Support Assist, has the same problem when attempting to download updates. There are no problems with internet communication for my cloud backup, antivirus software or other applications that need internet communication, and the ping of 8.8.8.8 worked fine with an average RTT of 16ms. I ran Wireshark but it has been many years since I did any packet analysis, all that I could see were (RST,ACK) messages for both the Boinc and Dell applications.

I zoom in on this sequence below in your log and it would match the (RST,ACK) you sniffed.

Looks like a certificate problem now but have no solution yet.

There is a ca-bundle.crt in the Boinc folder. Mine is dated: Certificate data from Mozilla as of: Thu Sep 30 03:12:05 2021 GMT
when I open it with notepad or similar editor
Mine is an old win10 laptop Boinc 7.20.2
The one in my Linux is dated 2023-06-21

I remember getting my ca-bundle.crt from:
https://curl.se/docs/caextract.html
which is dated today as: Tue Dec 12 04:12:04 2023 GMT
Some programs will expect this file to be named ca-bundle.crt (in the correct path).

Now you can try this if you like but keep the old one of course. It's all I can think of now.

What about downloading WUs?

Did this just stop working at some point and was that point after an update?
It seems this is now in place "disabled automatic use of client certificate"

If everything is just jammed then nothing to lose and I would try renaming the bundle to something else and re-boot to see if the system certs are OK.

I also found this but you are Win Home so it may not apply.

It stopped uploading but as far as I know there were no updates to anything, either Windows or Boinc at that time. I wasn't too concerned as I had a number of WUs running and waiting to run, and I have had upload delays before when there have been WCG issues. There have been no downloads either. I only started to investigate after a couple of days. I'll try your renaming suggestion tomorrow - the WUs are now out of date so there's nothing to lose.

This must be something on your end. Have you tried to temporarily disable AV and local firewall, to make sure they are not interfering?

I have downgraded from Boinc 7.24.1 to Boinc 7.16.11. The error messages now being produced are different from those generated by 7.24.1 . The listing below shows one attempt to connect to the scheduler and one attempt to upload a completed WU.

When you downgraded to 7.16 did you the delete the directories from both ProgramFiles and ProgramData? Nothing to lose.
