Re: Project Status (First Post Updated)

Today's ARP update is exciting. If you missed it, there is a link in the first post of this thread.
I really love the ARP project, and think this massive distributed computer we all make together is good for weather forecasting.
I'm excited to hear more about the system you are building BRCHS and hope the kids learn from the unique experience. Please save a few ARPs for us little hobbyists (me) though.

There should hopefully be plenty for all of us! This build is a little more... experimental. We are not sure we can cool it and we probably won't run it full time. We wanted to build two systems- one that was Intel's best versus AMD but that just isn't possible this year.

We received a small grant and had some donated items. As we all know, these tasks take a really long time and most of our systems only run a few at a time. So, we focused on single-core speed and memory speed and... wow... it is going to be awesome [if we can cool it].

CPU: Intel i9 _____ (just received).
MB: Asus ROG Maximus Z790 Apex Encore (just received)
Memory: KLEVV CRAS V RGB at 8400MT/s (shout-out to KLEVV for wanting to support these students- we don't have them yet but it's on the way soon). This memory is pretty tough to obtain so we are really excited.
SSD: CRAS C930 SSD (shout-out to KLEVV for wanting to support these students- we don't have it yet but it's on the way soon)
Working on case, PSU, and fans and most likely a custom water cooling system.

It will only run Linux/Ubuntu because students should know how to use it and that it is not as scary as most people think.

Also, we will be retiring some other older systems to make room for this one.

Hi. I seem to be hardly getting any work for my Mac Mini anymore. I get plenty for my Windows machines. Is anyone else experiencing this? thanks

I have been experiencing the same issue with Windows and Linux. Plenty for Windows, but Linux is only getting about 85% (which is gradually improving from about 30%). This is something only the techs could explain.

Cheers

Re: Project Status (First Post Updated)

And again (still) lots of "503 Service Unavailable" errors, "System Error", and from time to time "Log In" window popups, when already logged in. And of course an extremely slow website, when possible to use it. To even be able to post this, it took me 10 minutes of retries.

Hold back on releasing ARP tasks, until you have made the website system stable, or it will become totally unusable.

The 503 errors come and go. I have problems updating the first post some days. Right now, no errors, but since we haven't gotten any info on what is causing the problems, it is hard to know what the issue is.

As far back as March 11, they seems to have found the problem, and said it was the load balancer. However, they obviously did not manage to fix the problem. See this link: https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewpostinthread?post=695095

This error has been cropping up periodically for me also today. Basically I think the volume of queries is periodically exceeding the capacity of the system to handle them. At least, waiting a minute and then trying again works most of the time.
Plus the website seems quite sluggish today.

Cheers

Re: Project Status (First Post Updated)

Hi all,

We are aware that many users are still experiencing 503 errors. Our tech team had hoped that changes to the load balancer would resolve this issue completely, but it seems that some users are still experiencing frequent 503 errors every few days or so. The tech team is working on additional improvements that will hopefully resolve this issue completely.
