Growing up in South Carolina in 1962, I found a fascinating book in the local library about alien abductions by flying saucer people. To my surprise, one of the co-authors was the second cousin of the mother of one of my best friends. My friend told me that his mother's cousin made his living (in part) by lecturing on his experience when he was abducted.

I was too embarassed for him to ever follow up with a lot of questions. But the lesson I drew from this was that some people will do anything to get attention.

Yes, and now I wish very much that I hadn't. Your second link launched some kind of Java applet which I was unable to kill without rebooting.

The first link has a number of major problems, two of which are: 1. none of the author's alleged source documentation can be easily verified (if at all) because the documents aren't listed by anything which might be used to find the original material, and 2., the author references his own unsubstantiated statements (see 1) as source material.

The second link is NOT to a document in the US Patent Office, but in fact takes you to a poorly disguised marketing website, complete with "shopping cart", for some kind of bogus colloidal silver concoction.



The following:
1. That Boyd Graves is not a medical doctor, but a lawyer.
2. Graves appears to have a hand and financial stake in some dubious "natural" cure for several diseases, the worst of which is AIDS.
3. You should probably not believe anything said by a lawyer who is trying to sell you a cure for a deadly disease.

While I am dubious about the claims that Boyd Graves makes about the origin of AIDS and many other issues in this thread, the reference that CaptainZen linked to was, in fact, a document from the United States Patent and Trademark Office. If you click the link I have provided, you will see "Search" under Patents on the left of the page. Click that and then select "Patent Number Search" and enter the patent number 5,676,977. You will arrive at the page that CaptainZen referenced. I believe the shopping cart actions are to allow you to purchase a certified copy of the patent. I do not think that the granting of a patent for a "Method for curing AIDS" is any indication that it will work but that it is an indication that the method described differs from that of any other patent.

You missed the point mycrofth was making spectacularly. He wasn't implying you were seeking attention (a foolish endeavour anyway judging by your apparent, conspiracy wrought and ignorant view of science), rather he was highlighting that this Graves moron is seeking the attention. Which makes sense, don't you think? Attention is money if he can fool people.

People like you are interesting from a psychological point of view - why would you chose to even consider quack conspiracy theories (that you've found on the internet of all places) about subjects you obviously don't understand, over logical and reliable science? Perhaps conspiracy theories are just more exciting, or perhaps you're just plain ignorant. Regardless, in most cases conspiracies do little harm - you nuts are few and far between, as well as completely ignorable - but in this case, spreading distrust in science which could one day save your life (and could well have all ready) is as ungrateful as it is stupid.

I'm fed up of seeing "America created AIDS", "God created AIDS to kill gays", "America knows how to cure AIDS but doesn't want to because it only kills black people!!!11oneone". Trust me matey, if someone finds a miracle way of destroying HIV, they're not going to keep it quite and they certainly aren't going to lose their job. I'm pretty confident that no scientist is avoiding the potential fame, respect and riches of such a discovery for the sake of keeping his, consequently obsolete, job.

So, o-much-more-enlightened-one-than-every-closed-minded-scientist-in-the-world, I strongly suggest you perhaps read up on where AIDS actually came from (Hint: monkeys, SIV) and give up the preaching baseless conspiracy theories that only highlight your own ignorance and foolishness. OR go UFO hunting in Roswell where you're out of everyone else's way, as I doubt anyone here will convince you otherwise about AIDS, with your obvious aversion to common sense and logic.

i don't believe there's a cure but i think it's ok for people to question things, especially when you've seen true stories like these!
