cool Re: Join "My Online Team" Today

Dave, I have been into the body shop twice the last four years for minor surgery on my left foot. I am diabetic. Feet can be a problem when they stop automatically looking after themselves.

Best wishes,
Lawrence

Re: Join "My Online Team" Today

Thanks, CompuDude and Lawrence. Friends like you are what makes "My Online Team" great! As I said, I will let you all know when I have made my mind up (although, with other options they offer, it is about 99% made up already).

Re: Join "My Online Team" Today

What a great team this is turning out to be. It's got the website of David Autumns, the speed of CompuDude, and the wisdom of lawrencehardin.
Patriotism still holds me back.

Checking out the stats for the most points received yesterday -
I see that Russia has launched ahead of the US.
Notice though, that IBM maintains nearly half of the top 50 positions.
The USA teams will likely overtake the top few positions simply from the sheer propaganda and involvement. This will only occur if the project runs for longer than an additional 6 months.

BTW, I wonder what good ol' NEC's Earth Simulator was doing at the time of that earthquake? Perhaps that would make a clear and compelling case for the use of the grid. Can you imagine the thrill of contributing to the knowlege that this earthquake was going to occur? Saving tens of thousands of lives and billions of dollars of destruction... Instantly.

But...then again...If it failed in the detection, like the satelites and supercomputers and various scales and measures apparently failed, then we would all be left wondering if it was at all worth it.

My apologies on the thread hijack - just ranting from being up so late (as usual) wink

Re: Join "My Online Team" Today

Hi NoMad

I hope you had a nice Christmas

I have enjoyed some of your words of wisdom

Would you not agree that Disease has no Country, State or City boundaries and that what we are trying to do here is for the benefit of all humanity regardless of Nationality or Creed so there should be a United Community here.

Patriotism is a very commendable trait and believe me I agree with your beliefs but do you think it would be unpatriotic to join a team that is Multi National in the pursuit of a common goal that’s beneficial to all irrespective of nationality.

I don’t see that you would be turning your back on your Country in joining a team that is trying to achieve a common goal worldwide

I am sure you would feel comfortable here with us and I am sure you would be a most welcome addition

You can always try it temporally and see how you fit in

Give it some thought

Re: Join "My Online Team" Today

Rej --

Thanks. I realized today that I will be getting out of extended care with a new foot at the most beautiful time in the Carolinas -- Spring! All those years of living in Chicago left me thinking that Spring was the time of the year that the frozen mud melted. Not so here in the southeast! It is an explosion of color with all of the flowers that come into bloom. So, I guess it is a good time to have this done so that I can fully enjoy our Spring. I am really going to go into withdrawel for a while since I won't have access to the internet, but I have several books to catch up on. I will let you all know when it is certain that I will be checking in. I have an appointment scheduled for Tuesday with another doctor that is highly respected by the family doctor I have been seeing for years for a second opinion and, if he agrees with the diagnosis, I will probably check in either Wednesday or Thursday.

I sure hope my system is able to stay up for the 2 or 3 months I will be away from it to keep picking up work units for the WCG and our team.

Good reading Dave, and get someone to smogle in a Lap top.

We will all have moments to think of you.
