confused The combined speed of the grid? in teraflops per second? are we no #2 alredy in the supercomputer 500 list? We are the greatest. Soon we will be largest supercomputer in the world.!!

What is the combined speed of the grid? in teraflops per second? are we no#2 alredy in the 500 world supercimputer list?

HI dear admin who u answer soo quick and nice to evry post, in ur opinion whats the combined speed of the grid?:P

are we number 10? 2? alredy in 500 super cumputer list? like the news realease u provided claims?

:P

United Devices has a Power Calculator page that can help you with guesstimates here: http://www.ud.com/rescenter/

Yesterday's run time: (y:d:h:m:s) 94:094:12:50:31

But you will have to guess at utilization efficiency for some standard processor. We do not have all the information required.

MM after using the ud guesstimator, from ud, i cam up anywhere from

20 teraflops to 100 teraflops, witch puts the grid in top 500.

anywehre from number 10 to number 2 just bhind blue gene l.

soo wee indeed are in top 10 alredy:).

we shall put blue gene L, to shame alsoo prety soon:)

Re: What is the combined speed of the grid? in teraflops per second? are we no#10 alredy in the 500 list?

My Favourite question

Like a red rag to a bull I can't resist wink

It's a guesstimate but my Athlon 3200+ (Sorry folks for those who have heard it before blushing ) with it's 512Mb of Ram gets 29.4 points per hour and benchmarks at 3.447GFlops. I'd think that was around the average amount of memory in a system.

Checking out the global stats you will see that the average point score per hour is 25.48057

25.48057/29.4*3200= ~ a Athlon XP 2773+ if they made such a thing which would produce 2.9874 GFlops. So that's the power of your average PC on the WCG.

On Friday we excelled ourselves posting 95 years 179 days 3 hours 10 minutes and let's not forget those 40 seconds (Although today it's looking good today for a few more biggrin)

That's the equivalent of just over 34,854 average PC's on all day

= 104125GFlops = 104 TeraFlops shock shock shock

Which is the raw number crunching potential of all of the PC's on the Grid

This would place us in the number 2 position on the list of the worlds top 500 supercomputers (Blue Gene must be beginning to worry wink I'm sure with all that computing power it understands)

However I'm sorry to have to break this to you but...

We think each work unit gets allocated to about 5 crunchers to build in redundancy for those who receive a work unit and never complete the task and also for verification of the results. Work Units have to be checked against each other for accuracy as this is medical research that is being carried out. So with the loss of crunching power when your PC returns it's results and downloads another one and heaven forbid you would dare to use your WCG crunching PC for anything else like computer games for instance tongue So...

The conservative estimate is that we are around the 20TeraFlops mark.

Which isn't to be sniffed at as it's all freely given

20 TeraFlops would currently place us in around 11th Position of the current Worlds Fastest SuperComps

But every day we just get that bit quicker applause

Keep those fans blowing and those CPU's glowing for the World Community Grid

Sorry about all the caveats but I'm still battered and bruised from the first time I tried to cheer folk up with this kind of news

a minimum of 20 teraflops usefull, and maxium of 100 teraflops,

soo like i said wi are then in top 10(500), anywhere from 10 to 2,

depends how u look at it

devilish

Cheers mariduru

Yep 2nd in the world for raw number crunching power

I'm glad to see you concur each time I do the maths I always think I might be a power of 10 out

That's a lot of number crunching going on
