Re: WCG Client Cannot Connect to Internet

eagle_eyes,

You could try other BOINC projects. Rosetta@home is a medical/biology project.

I don't see why you can't connect to WCG but maybe you can contribute to other BOINC projects.

Re: WCG Client Cannot Connect to Internet

Thank you. Yes, and I can't get them to work, either. I reinstalled BOINC to make sure, and it's not working. I appreciate your help.

I'm also having troubles with JetBrains certificates, and I manually updated their software to no avail.

I'm uninstalling until the next software release.

Re: WCG Client Cannot Connect to Internet

Since you've uninstalled Boinc. Did you download version 7.16.7 from this link https://boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php ? If you only run WCG then download the smaller version 9.28MB should fix the problem.

If i remember correctly, there was 7.16.6 too. That won't do. You'll have to download 7.16.7
Give it another try

sad Re: WCG Client Cannot Connect to Internet

Yes, I did. That didn't work, either. I thought maybe downloading it with VirtualBox would work, but it didn't. Thank you for your help.

smile Re: WCG Client Cannot Connect to Internet

I followed the instructions from the site you gave me until I came across a warning that the firewall wasn't running correctly. I reinstalled BOINC, too, but can't remember the exact order. I then tried to see if I can enable that application in Windows Security, but it wasn't in the list, because I haven't rebooted the computer, yet.

When I rebooted the computer, BOINC worked immediately. There was no trouble with a connection. Somehow, Windows Security was preventing the connection. I even tried running the other software I had trouble with a security certificate failing, and it worked right away.

Thank you for suggesting Windows Security. I run ZoneAlarm with Windows Firewall turned off, but I hear it's okay to have both going. Either way, I hope someone else comes across this problem and can fix it without getting frustrated like I did. Once again, thank you for your help.
