Re: Team Andrax, The Great International Team! New Members, Join us!

You should be OK either way. Some computers with dual core processors get more from BOINC because BOINC will utilize both cores on those processors. While United Devices' agent will only use 1. However, I think your CPU is a single core processor so you can run either one. Additionally, BOINC seems to give more points per workunit on faster machines, but that's not particularly important, it's the results that matter.

Well, I thought I'd try Boinc, and it seems to be good on my machine. I don't know if the other finished work will show up, but hopefully I'll have something next to my name soon. Thanks very much for all the help,

With WCG, your results might show up a bit later. What happens with BOINC is that the exact same workunit is sent out 3 times. And as the 3 computers crunch that data and send it back to WCG, those results are compared to each other to ensure that they are the same. This ensures that there are no computational errors made by computers (which can occur sometimes under specific circumstances), and that the data integrity remains high. This "validation" process can take up to several days so you will not see the results and points posted until this occurs.

I like the way Boinc is running, my results so far are either credited or the work is pending validation. The points I have aren't showing up on the team, though. Is that something that will eventually catch up as well?

Yeah, the points will show up on the team stats. I think that only updates once per day, if you check later tonight they'll probably show up then.

Hi, Things are going smoothly with the program, but I'm still getting error messages when I log in to the team page. It doesn't recognize my info. Thanks for any help you can give.
