I haven't seen a poppy seller yet either and the shop round the corner that previously always had them has changed hands and the new owners have clearly not continued the tradition. I expected to see one at Sainsbury's last Friday where I've always seen them in the past but nothing. I'll have to have a search around the High Street this week. Evening all We'll be thinking of you Den so best wishes. Went into town this morning and found my poppy man at last in the tube station when I returned. ^^^^^^^^^^^thats most prob because Mr Morrison lives in Teds Hamlet ..... ![]() Most supermarkets have them too. I was in Iceland this morning and they were by the one checkout that was not in use. Anyone could take one and put the money in the box. Nobody did. I was the only one there wearing a poppy. Not even the staff were displaying them. Are we (as far as Iceland customers are concerned - or not), the forgotten men (and women?)? Not that I'm complaining. Obviously the Edwardians Team remember us and Prestwich Library has an exhibition of Prestwichians' war memorabilia. [Edit 4 times, last edit by Former Member at Nov 7, 2007 8:16:27 PM] |

Great thing about Iceland:
"Don't struggle with heavy bags - let us deliver them FREE*. Our fleet of temperature controlled vans ensure that all your shopping is delivered in tip-top condition to your door." And that is what we did and usually do. We left at 2.00 p.m. but they could not deliver until tomorrow. Our frozen food will be kept separate until it is put into the temperature controlled van. In the blurb above they say "to your door", but usually they bring it right inside, knowing that we are physically handicapped. Now that is service! Den; keep your chin up and get well quickly. |
