Re: The Formula One Thread

That's why i posted you should keep yout fingers crossed for him.

Seems that anything, maybe a part of Barricchello's car, hit his head, and he went unconscious while driving more than 250 km/h. Therefore he could not stir, and could not take his hands off the stirring wheel befor the ricochet.

Re: The Formula One Thread

Ferrari's Felipe Massa has escaped serious injury after crashing heavily towards the end of Saturday's Q2 qualifying session at the Hungaroring.

Massa ploughed straight off the circuit at Turn 4, burying the front of his car in a tyre wall, after being struck on the head by a piece of debris, thought to have come from the rear of Rubens Barrichello's Brawn car.

Medics were quickly in attendance and the start of Q3 was delayed as they extricated the Brazilian. After initial examinations at the medical centre, Massa, eighth fastest in Q2, was transferred by helicopter to hospital for further precautionary checks.

It was subsequently confirmed that Massa was conscious following the accident and that he has sustained a cut above his left eye, which is not believed to be serious

oh well

Massa undergoes surgery in intensive care

Felipe Massa has been operated on in a Budapest hospital and remains in intensive care this evening. As reported earlier; the Brazilian driver suffered from concussion and a damaged skull in Hungary after striking a spring weighing 800 grammes which had come loose from Rubens Barrichello's car.

What a pity

Massa 'stable' after emergency op

Felipe Massa is attended to by F1 medical officer Gary Hartstein

Felipe Massa's condition has been described as "serious but stable" following emergency surgery after he suffered skull damage and concussion.

The Brazilian hit a tyre wall after a spring from Rubens Barrichello's car flew up and hit Massa's helmet during Hungarian Grand Prix qualifying.

The Associated Press news agency quoted a hospital spokesman as saying Massa's condition was "life-threatening".

But Ferrari denied the reports, insisting the operation was "positive".

The Italian team said Massa will remain under observation in intensive care and Ferrari will make a further statement on his condition on Sunday.

AEK military hospital medical director Peter Bazso added: "At the moment he's under anaesthetic and will be woken up on Sunday."

AP quoted a statement from the Hungarian defence department as saying: "At the time he was admitted to hospital his condition was stable and he was breathing and blood circulation was normal.

"During the course of his examination they established that he suffered a serious, life-threatening injuries including loss of consciousness and a fracture of the forehead on the left side and a fracture on the base of the skull."

My very best wishes, prayers , thoughts for a prompt recovery are with this great driver , his family and the brother great Coutry from Brasil

Re: The Formula One Thread

After the intense heat of Thursday and Friday and then the cooler conditions of Saturday, it will be a little warmer again on Sunday, with partial cloud and an ambient temperature of 26 degrees Celsius.

And with Bridgestone bringing along their soft and super soft tyre compounds, the race will once again place a premium on tyre management.

The 4.381-kilometre (2.722-mile) circuit remains unchanged bar additional conveyor belts that have been added to the tyres in Turns Five, Eight, and Nine, and a new debris fence on the wall to the right after Turn 14.

The race will run over 70 laps, or 306.458 kilometres (190.420 miles). It starts at 1400 hours local time, which is two hours ahead of GMT
