update on DNA editing, looks interesting http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-394...xtend-human-lifespan.html That looks like it might solve the main problem in gene editing - a significant risk of cancer ten years later if there is no control of where the new gene is inserted into the old genes. May need some research to find places in the old genes that affect whether cancer will develop, though. [Edit 1 times, last edit by robertmiles at Nov 17, 2016 5:07:14 AM] |

Sharpe and his team found that they could use the Alzheimer's drug Tideglusib to stimulate the stem cells inside a tooth to actually create more dentin than usual, regenerating the whole structure without needing to add any foreign substance at all.
In other words, no fillings. http://www.sciencealert.com/this-new-drug-can...eed-for-man-made-fillings |

Of general interest... the world rankings of health care in rich and poor countries:
http://www.newsweek.com/united-states-health-care-rated-worst-637114 http://nordic.businessinsider.com/the-16-coun...ealthcare-systems-2017-1/ Italy used to be 2nd, according the WHO 2010 report http://thepatientfactor.com/canadian-health-c...he-worlds-health-systems/ ... no longer, but it's mostly a national health program... pay as you go, with relative minimal out-of-pocket. Everyone has access and you wont go bankrupt when developing severe issues. |

Beyond me
Why do so many US women die giving birth? While progress has been made to curb death rates among women in other countries, the US has seen an increase since the year 2000. For the BBC's America First? series, the BBC's Aleem Maqbool is exploring health and social issues where the US, the richest country in the world, does not perform well in international rankings. The scary part is, this loosely aligns with world health care rankings on infant mortality rates, but not for some countries (2015) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_infant_mortality_rate |

Many know of grandma's ailment prescriptions and they work, quite a few slotted into the homeopathics these days. There's also snake oil, but they're for fools. Now we have a special honey, Mellito Gola Sana, from a nearby mountain, which works great on throat-aches/infections, but this one has a different definition... manuka honey as an antibiotic: http://edition.cnn.com/2017/11/24/health/manuka-honey-claims-partner/index.html
