BOINC installation error 2735

Trying to install the BOINC agent and encountering the following error message:

Internal Error 2735. CAShutdownUD <ok>

This error occurs while the main installation window reads
Status: Shutting down running instances of United Devices agent

I had previously been running the UD agent; before installing BOINC I shutdown the UD agent and uninstalled it. Then I ran the BOINC agent and received the above error. Shutdown/reboot doesn't help. Checked with Sysinternals Process Explorer; no UD processes are running when the error message is received.

Help!

Re: BOINC installation error 2735

Thanks for reporting. I've seen error 2753, not 2735, failing to start BOINCmgr but it did not re-occur after launching the actual BOINCmgr manually and did not report anything pertaining to UD. Possibly when uninstalling UD before, it left some legacy traces for the BOINC installer to think it is still there and running (Wonder if the UD screensaver is still around and referenced).

If the process continued and BOINC loaded, I'd not worry, but will report it to the programmers. Use a registry cleaner to see if anything related to UD pops up. If the Applications Control Panel still lists UD get ahold of the MS Install Cleaner to remove the item.

sylfer, during the BOINC installation was there a screen saying UD was detected on your system, and if so, did you choose to leave it or remove it?

Re: BOINC installation error 2735

bertodil and sylfer, you should be able to install the version of BOINC from Berkeley: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php

I will pass on the problems you have experienced to the WCG techs, and hopefully they can fix the issue so other members don't have the problem you did.

Re: BOINC installation error 2735

I didn't see any such message during the installation. If I recall correctly, I got the EULA agreement screen, the single/multi/service choice screen, and then the error.

I went to the boinc site directly and installed the plain-vanilla boinc client (not the WCG-modified one); it installed with no probs and I'm up and running that way.

Thanks for the help !!

Re: BOINC installation error 2735

If there is still a folder like C:\Program Files\WorldCommunityGrid you can delete it manually.

sylfer, I'm glad that the 'vanilla' install worked for you. To help us out, can you post what OS you're on?

I got initially the same problem with my W98SE box, I install Boinc from Berkeley and it installed correctry.

Now I got another major problem, I allways got
WCG_dddt_autodock_5 software who refuse to stop working and freeze my machine at shutdown, until now it never shutdown correctly ...

???

It seems moving from old UD agent to boinc wasn't a good solution and maybe the WCG projetc loose an old working cpu ...
