sylfer, I'm glad that the 'vanilla' install worked for you. To help us out, can you post what OS you're on? This was on my Windows ME machine. I didn't get this problem when I installed on Windows XP under the same conditions (stopping/uninstalling the UD client prior to BOINC install) |

I will pass on the problems you have experienced to the WCG techs, and hopefully they can fix the issue so other members don't have the problem you did. I am getting this same error when trying to upgrade to the latest 5.10.22 version but from an earlier version of Boinc. I previously ran UD on my Win Me system. I was able to successfully uninstall UD and install Boinc 5.8.15 and am still running it. I downloaded 5.10.22 from WCG and tried to install it over my current version 5.8.15. The installation proceeds and in the same manner that sylfer described in his post of 10/05/07 and the error message is the same as previously posted: Internal Error 2735. CAShutdownUD The main installation window reads: Status: Shutting down running instances of United Devices agent My problem isn't migrating from UD to Boinc. My problem is upgrading Boinc over an earlier version of Boinc that sucessfully replaced UD. I used a registery editor to check for any stray key containing mention of UD and I also checked my directories for any left-over files and have found nothing or else I'm not looking in the right places and am missing something. Is it critical to upgrade to the latest version? Would I be leaving myself out of certain projects if I don't upgrade to latest version? Because I did not want to interrupt my current project, I did not try uninstalling the old version of Boinc first. |

You can install Boinc over the excisting version, no problem.
----------------------------------------As far as I know it's not especially necessary to upgrade when running 5.8.15. You can look at the changes in the change log here. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Oct 23, 2007 10:13:08 PM] |

I'm pleased to report that this latest version installed over my older version of 5.8.15 without any problems. |
