Indeed, your 57K results and 23million points is pretty pathetic - if you hadn't overclocked it would have been so much more laughing

Re: Overclocking = Benefit?

Please don't overclock. Overclocking substantially increases the risk of invalid results.

As Scribbles used to say...........Pfffffffffffffffffffffffffffffft.

Running a stock rig is like wearing your mother's underwear.

If that underwear is made of spandex it should overclock enough for you to try on. biggrin

A newer AMD 2.0 GHz Venice chip here will comfortably overclock to 2.4 GHz and runs cooler than another older AMD 2.4 GHz Windsor chip. That one does not like to run faster. Both are sort of equivalent to Intel 3.0 GHz. Results here are valid.

It usually doesn't take long to find an invalid result if the overclocking is pushed too far. This crunching will push a computer even harder than prime95.

Re: Overclocking = Benefit?

have an old xp2500m that has always ran as a xp3200 bout 5 years...
an x2 4400 that runs 2.8 with no problems....
but i must say theese machines have all the high end expensive stuff
not all of the same parts will do the same thing under the same circumstances...
have an opty 148 an a gigabyte board can only get stable at stock (2.2gig) but same cpu will run 2.8+ on an asus board with same cooling memmory and power supply.....

Re: Overclocking = Benefit?

One my headless crunchers is a AMD 2500, which has a Thermal Take cooler, and stays cool to the touch (sensors reports 30/40 C for the CPU/MB) running at stock settings. This machine is the ultimate bare-bone machine as it doesn't even have a case. It's just the critical parts sitting on a cardboard box.
This thread makes we want to do some research on how to OC this machine without having to take out a bank loan.

Re: Overclocking = Benefit?

i don't know about you guys, but you are kickin in major revolution with those over-rated results! but as long as you give back the valid results, that is OK...

to be honest, i also do the overclocking, but mine doesn't go very much UP! mostly it's the 3% overclock, just to juice up the FSB on MB...and every CPU with (almost) every cooler can handle the increase...
but on summertime i go down to 100%, 'cause here gets very hot (up to 40°C) - so the water/oil cooling is my next sollution!

for now, i don't have the invalid results on my machines (except on one, which is on bad HUB on the work, but that will be replaced soon!), they are stable 24/7 and keep crunching...to be sure i also use the UPS to keep the oscilation in AC power to the minimum! so my room looks like a lab of computers, and definately keeps me warm in winter time (it's snowing here in Croatia)...
