my view is that if you know what you are doing, overclock. If you don't know, leave it well alone.
----------------------------------------From my experience also, I have found Pentium chips will always shut down the computer if they get too hot, but AMD chips (not used the latest series so cant comment on all models but certainly the duron,sempron, older althlon range) will simply melt if run too hot. There are many articles on the subject and they should all be read before attempting an overclock. Look at what other users are getting from similar spec machines as yours. I once overclocked a 900MHz duron chip (AMD) to the max and all was fine for many weeks. I then started to rip DivX files (back in those days it would take 20 hours to rip a film) and running the chip at 100% melted the chip, heatsink and motherboard, and non of the remaining components other than the hard drive and DVD drive ever worked again. It was a very costly mistake and I wouldnt want anybody else to make it.
