----------------------------------------Good Afternoon Base Campers! I forgot to say that if any Base Camper has anything to add to the Base Camp ’manifesto’ I posted yesterday, please feel free to mention it so it can be incorporated in the next edition. TLD, you have been a Base Camper from the very beginning. What did I miss? A mermaid’s job is to swim under the surface. There she is able to notice one thing or another. For instance, our Base Camp thread had a visit from B2I today. I hope he remembers he is Base Camped and will join us again. Some months ago I went to embarrassing extremes in order to contact him – I came close to stalking. I succeeded asking him if he would like to go on a trek, but he didn’t at that time. It’s a pity he didn’t leave a message so we could have taken that pink cloud trip …  Yesterday I saw my wonderful new doctor. We had just touched upon the planned bloodwork for liver and kidneys to be done in May when she all of a sudden stared into my eyes. Fixated me, and said that she would accelerate that blood test, because the white of my eyes looked yellow. I thought it was the shampoo that had gotten into my eyes as it always does, and I saw them as red – a nice new feature for my bar brawl face. She would call me with the results next week – I never had this kind of service from a doctor before. Already this morning less than a day later, the ’Healthplatform’ – our new crown jewel in Denmark – alerted me with an e-mail that I had test results. All was OK except for the alanine transaminase [ALAT]. In the test results they include graphs so you can see how the development is. At the last test one month ago the value kissed the ceiling, and this time it broke through it well on its way to the roof. There can be three reasons for that as I see it. Alcohol – yes, I have imbibed more than my liver wants me to lately. The recommendation from our Ministry or Health is max 21 drinks per week for men and 14 for women, and I have topped that Medicine – yes, my liver has four new ones to cope with Hemochromatosis – the black horse. A hereditary mutation of the blood that results in accumulation of iron in your organs – so much has had a ball as far as my blood is concerned, so why not? My father had blood letting for it – exactly as they did in the good old days, when they believed that all maladies was in the blood. Iranian dates - 27 people are known to have been infected with hepatitis A from Iranian dates. I ate some, but on the other hand I was vaccinated and revaccinated.  But, of course, I need to stop pitying myself and killing my liver in the process. I also need to loose weight in order to fit into my summer clothes which I bought with a very optimistic attitude last summer, and alcohol gives you a lot of calories.  EDIT: The Iranian dates part. ----------------------------------------Still over at Gridcoin trying to make enough coin to pay my electric bill and learning about digital currency. It's been quite the adventure but I'm starting to tire of it a bit. One has to keep constant check on which BOINC projects are on the approved list, which ones work best with your equipment, and then pick projects that allow you to be highest ranked possible for your team in daily contributions. There are members that have entire data centers competing for coins and others that have invested over a million US dollars equivalent in the gridcoin. To earn Gridcoin, you have to be a member of their team. I come back here just to see what's cooking from time to time. Actually, got tired of chasing the most points per day and moved all my 'puters back to WCG which will probably cut my daily earning is half but, as I said, just getting tired of the game. May come a day when I've had enough of gridcoining and rejoin my old team (Christians) and start trekking again. By for now from B2I.  |

B2I, thank you for leaving a message.
It does send me up on that pink cloud  Thank you also for explaining about Gridcoin. I have wondered for quite a while. So it takes place somewhere outside of WCG? I thought it was a team here. It sounds as if Gordon Gekko is the captain. Good for you that you understand what it is and are able to keep cool. It is easy to be caught up in such games and it can lead to financial havoc if you speculate - said by one who seems to suffer from most weaknesses to be found on this earth I gave up smoking though  - and booze is on its way to a much lower level  You are more than welcome anytime, B2I, on any of our treks. I understand it's not imminent for you, but it would be wonderful if you keep our Grand Galla SNURK & Friends trek in September in mind. We hope to make it something special to celebrate SNURK and his unselfish work here. As far as I recall you lived out west Wyoming? and commanded a second more urban home. Do I remember correctly? Thank you for coming - don't be a stranger - and watch your Gridcoin moves |

Good Afternoon Base Campers!
Prime example is Sujo1 and I have been chatting … I noticed, acpartsman, and I took one more trip on my pink cloud.:origin()/pre00/d22d/th/pre/i/2017/166/5/5/cloud_mermaid_by_sleepyseaslug-dbctif5.png) I spent my afternoon at the annual meeting of the quite active local chapter of the Seniors’ Association. In my town of 63,000 people, some 9,000 are a member, and of those 9,000 members some 140 volunteer in one way or another. So many skills have acculmulated in these oldies. Soon I’ll do that also. The leader of our Danish literature group and the English one ’Books in English’ needs a break after nine years. I don’t have her insight in literature, but we can organize it in another way, which I already have a sketchy plan for, and I have until September to hone that. I walked there. Four miles. Had to stop and catch my breath ever so often – better than Friday, worse than yesterday. Just what I need – one more completely unpredictable thing in my life  But I’m so happy I still can walk certain distances – and as if it was acpartsman I had strapped around my wrist my ’Watch’ encourages me. It counts steps, calories burnt, distance, active time and combines it into a total. Bzzzz ’Come on – just 20% left’  |

----------------------------------------In regard to gridcoin: there is team in WCG but for several reasons, some of which I understand and some I don't, it pays only about half if you optimize on other projects. You have to find projects that pay well in points and that do not have too much competition from team mates. Ironical that your team mates are your competitors. After 5 months of study and optimization of BOINC projects, and zigging when my teams zagged, I reached a Magnitude (gridcoin measure of merit for minting coin) of 185-200. I've now switched switched all my machines over to WCG 100% to see how big a drop I get. As of today mag is 155 and slowly falling. [Edit 1 times, last edit by B2I at Mar 18, 2018 8:42:54 PM] |

 Mamma mia, B2I, does this sound complicated!It makes me feel really backwards. Does a Magnitude of 185-200 make you rich? And do you lose these riches again when you are back here with a Magnitude of 155 and falling? What are ’gridcoin’ used for? Can it buy you a burger in the analogue world? In your next post you mention a ’gridcoin wallet’. That must be where your gridcoin - is there a plural such as gridcoins? is kept. I understand that you can transfer gridcoin from your wallet to another person’s wallet as between bank accounts. Does one have a backup system for such valuables? I have a faint memory of someone losing a lot of Bitcoin because something happened to his access codes.  |
