---------- With the Russians, it's like with the Poles or Scots, I cheat. I have a head that makes them believe that I'm from the country, they serve me to drink without me having anything to ask. (Vodka, scotch ?) And normally, between French, English, Spanish, German, and the language of the hands, I manage to get by. In the depths of the campaign Camboge, it would certainly be a little more 'technical'. As for the badge, sorry, but the one that interests me is that Team Kraland is 'number one'. We will have to recruit a lot of people for that. ![]() |

Do you cheat, stefada?!
![]() I had never believed that! So you go as a Scot in Scotland and a Pole in Poland? Now, that’s funny. But not as a German in Germany, an Englishman in England, Spaniard in Spain – not even a Frenchman in France? Well, I have that all over. And overseas as well. Not south of the Alps though. I’m a silly blonde; they don’t think I’m Portuguese. I must look trustworthy, though. Everybody asks directions from me. Now I have Saphir12-Nathalie with the ’Here’ app installed, so I flip her out and ask: ”How do you spell that? Well, let’s seeee ….” ![]() About the Kraland badge? I have certain liberties. If you join our upcoming Maine trek starting April 20 and promise to show up at Base Camp’s Grand Galla SNURK trek in September that badge is yours – with a mention in our Base Camp Hall of Fame, of course. What do you say? Yes, yes, yes, of course you may bring Louloup .... Eh bien, voyons ... " A propos du badge Kraland? J'ai certaines libertés. Si vous participez à notre trek du Maine à partir du 20 avril et promettez de vous présenter au Grand Galla SNURK du camp de base en septembre, ce badge est à vous - avec une mention dans le Temple de la renommée du camp de base, bien sûr. Que dites-vous? Oui, oui, bien sûr, vous pouvez apporter Louloup ![]() ![]() |

Good Morning Base Campers!
This is our very last day in Mexico. acpartsman already ran over to SeriousCrunchers, but forgot to tell dave where to move. Doneske left, too. Your earned your first badge, Doneske, and I hope you are not discouraged, but encouraged to join us on future treks. Where did you go? You left yesterday and would have arrived at SeriousCrunchers if that’s where you’re headed. I’m worried. I trust sujo1 to find you, and if push comes to shove, I’ll see if our search team can get assistance from adriverhoef and Speurneus. little mermaid jumped ship as well, and put on her safety shoes to dancing with captain keithhenry at MOT. Lingering are tanner2, Urden, and yodap. We’ll take the Copper Canyon Train Ride as planned. I cannot do it better than this website. Enjoy. And enjoy our last Mexican meal as well. ![]() Your badges have been dealt at the Base Camp Hall of Fame . Thank you very much for participating – I hope to see you again. Base Camp’s next trek will go to Maine beginning April 20, 2018. ♥ See you later ♥ Au Revoir ♥ Auf Wiedersehen ♥ ![]() |

Dave seems to be a patient guy, and obedient, too, acpartsman.
Please tell him ’Hello and thank you' from Base Camp next time you text him. Good Morning Base Campers! It’s a cool sunny day; just walked with a friend and had coffee in her garden. Her garden is part of a ’garden colony’. We call it ’colony gardens’. I think it's 'allotment gardens' in English. We have many of these gardens - old and new - in Denmark – and I have seen them in many places in Germany as well. It is land laid out in small plots for growing vegetables, with some fruit trees and bushes, flowers, and usually a little lawn, and above all a small house. Traditionally, these houses are built by non-professionals and from recycled materials. This has given birth to an entirely new architectural style. Originally the intention was to make it possible for people living in dark, cramped apartments to get out into the fresh air, spread their wings, and grow healthy vegetables, stretching the food budget at the same time. It has given birth to a culture of national romanticism. It is celebrated in tear jerking songs – I shall spare you the translation – and when the projects work – and some workhorses are needed to manage the association at each cluster of gardens – it is a very good thing. My friend is one of those. She was elected treasurer of her garden colony of some 80 gardens. She has spent sleepless nights fixing the tattered bookkeeping and introducing her own impeccable system. She makes sure that hers is in good hands and runs well ![]() ![]() |

Good Morning Base Campers!
Yesterday I told you about garden colony garden, and how good they are, and how full of hygge the houses are. Once again my queer belief in fate, chance, and coincidence kicks in. Well, Denmark is not a very religious country. That doesn’t prevent us from using a lot of idioms referring to the Bible, which we all have – at least my generation – been taught about. ![]() ![]() Back to the houses in the garden colony gardens: Well, a lot of people with garden colony gardens received a letter from their commune – town, whatever - telling them to reduce the area of their houses to a maximum of 60 sq m/645.5 sq feet. These houses have a tendency to grow almost by themselves and often by budding I hate to say this, but the commune in question is that of Odense, the very birthplace of Hans Christian Andersen, who wrote fairy tales. He could have written a very sad one about this, because such a message is not what lifts your mood right when you are ready to start the new growing season. The reason Odense commune is able to do this comes from all kinds of registrations about everything and then some in my country. This can work to the benefit of people of which I'll give an example later on in the Daily Danish or the – as in this case – to make people sad or angry. ![]() One crestfallen and sad owner of an oversize garden colony garden house. Just to the left of him you Americans will see a glimpse of a black spheric thing. That’s the grill – available as gas fueled or as charcoal fueled And what has this with to do with Base Camping? Nothing! My post yesterday didn't either - but when you have said 'A' you have to say 'B' as well, so I felt compelled to make this follow-up. Look at it as an intercultural exchange ![]() Still, remember we are leaving for Maine on April 20 - not to mention our Grand Galla SNURK trek taking place in September. ♥ See you later ♥ Au Revoir ♥ Auf Wiedersehen ♥ |

Little Mermaid.
---------- I have no explanation for the Russians, Poles and Scots. Maybe like the Bretons, those are people who like to drink? Maybe it's my beard? Or when it's obvious to me that I'm Breton? (for the French it is the case) Perhaps still, that it is seen that I was bartender? In any case, they invite me to drink with them. And I can guarantee you, that doing a vodka contest with Poles, that 'sends heavy'. ![]() Regarding the badge of the team Kraland, I mis explained. If you look at my signature, you can see Team Kraland [# 349]. My goal is to become [# 1]. Oh, of course, I know there is little chance that I'll get there. But that's my goal, and one of my motivations to recruit as much as I can. And although we may never be first, if it motivates our members to do more, and more crunchers, it's always better for Research. Finally, compared to the 'garden colonies' in Denmark, we have something based on the same principle in France, we call it 'social gardens'. This is not an absolute rule, but in almost all cities where there is an HLM, there is |

stefada, how did you get the TB WUs that earned you a badge today?
So you have these gardens in France as well. Very nice ![]() As to your SNURK sign showing Team Kraland as #1: I think it’s a wonderful ambition. Go for it! ![]() What is ’HLM’ short for? Thank you, thank you, merci for the photo of Louloup ![]() Yes, you can call him ’Big Paw’ – my Blaffe – she was a male cat – had such huge paws, too. Good Morning Base Campers! Á pro pos: We are still waiting for a picture of acpartsman's heavyweight cat ![]() No garden colony gardens today – except for what stefada wants to tell us. Yesterday was the last German class for the season. One hour of discussions in German, one hour of hygge with smørrebrød. And we discussed the last details of our trip to Flensburg. ![]() Carl von Clausewitz would envy us our expert planner. We have it all laid out on the minute. And we think this eigth revised plan which has Euros and cents in it, too, will be the last and final. Our German teacher is from the border region where Danish and German most of the time work together in perfect harmony – and sometimes clash. Miniscule clashes nowadays. He likes to call out trips ’excursions’ because then it sounds scientific. ![]() And we do have a theme right from our first stop at 0945 sharp at Knivsbjerg in Danish – Knivsberg in German – which is a place where German minded people met/meet and celebrate German things. ![]() They had a Bismarck monument there – these are common at high places throughout Germany. In November of 1945 – the German occupation forces left Denmark in May of 1945 – the thing was blown up by Danish resistance with dynamite to spare. ![]() The handling of Danish Dynamite seems to have been considerably more successful then than now And what has this to do with Base Camping? ![]() Not much, but nap and I have agreed on a badge for the upcoming Maine trek; the easiest negotiations ever made – even as nap is still pestered by the ’fire from hell’ and is predicted to be so until May 1 – an addition of a couple of days since the last prediction from his doctor. All Base Camp’s best to you, nap ![]() |
