Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

I agree, NixChix, the tail of the Avionette is what every mermaid wish for whistling
Forget the badge program – I put up the badges in the Base Camp Hall of Fame
for our three latest treks trial-and-error-style.
As to The International Team 2.0 badge
– none really had a chance to get that, so when we make an ’orderly’ trek there,
there will be a new badge and the old one will be a bonus,
so all who would have participated had they known have another chance.
I hope I did it right and remembered all your names; please report if I missed you in my tally.

stefada, it sounds as if you have experience in using ham for a compass! I’m sure Louloup appreciates that.
Thank you for getting used to being a thoroughbred Base Camper
- you even pass so many milestones while you’re away from home.
After Round 3 of the THOR Challenge, we’ll move into quiet waters and relax,
so you can pass your next milestone with Kraland.
The complète looks so delicious and seems relatively uncomplicated to make.
I’m tempted to try that out. It cannot go wrong, can it?
It looks a little like ’Uitsmijter’ which I tried in the Netherlands and
’Strammer Max’ as they make it in Germany.
In both cases the bottom is toasted bread. Yours look more elegant.

Good Morning Base Campers!
Business
We came so close to lift SeriousCrunchers into the Top Ten.
Let’s do it in 2019, Base Campers.
Now we can concentrate on reinforcing SNURK and friends so that SNURK could slide into a #3 position tongue
shame on you We will no way go below #10 biggrin
That would really be a
GRANDE FINALE to this almost two-months-long trek with many byways
- and I hope many, many crunchers WCGwide will join what
SNURK and friends member BobMcGee calls the 'underdog team'
thinking I think that could be a good catch phrase along with 'a motley crew of Base Campers'.
I have asked NAP2614 if he would like to design a badge specifically for this trek.
Anyone who joins will then get three badges:
The regular Base Camp’s GRAND GALLA SNURK CELEBRATION trek
A *** Bonus THOR/LOKI badge for being with us in Round 3
And finally a new SNURK and friends Round 3 badge.
I have alerted acpartsman – and implicitly his friend davwhite5xq7 – because he’s still busy
restoring and remodeling his ’This-Old-House’.
Hurricane Michael tipped a big tree that fell just short of acpartsman’s project.
I’ll release a ’Attention – Achtung – Attenzione’ message. Maybe twice.
I’m open for all your ideas smile

Chit-chat
I’m going out to pick up tickets for November’s concert Falgren & Friends.
This time Bjarke Falgren invited 81-year-old ’Nulle’ who still knows how to play the clarinet
Another sample:
Nulle & the World Orchestra
- why make it small, when you play like this?
– and I need winter hiking shoes worried I don't like buying shoes ....

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

Lol NixChix, and of course BladeD. laughing

----------
Puppy and Louloup, no hassle eh, each his piece. If you are not wise, there will be no other.

Little Mermaid,
-----------
Louloup is used to ham, and meat in general. So already that he is eating salad, you suspect that it is spotted at a blazing speed (as quickly as Puppy has arrived).

wink

Cooking

Yes it is very easy to make buckwheat pancakes, also called buckwheat pancakes (What this translation ?). On this site (in French) on the Breton couking, I think it is well explained.

And I confirm the trick, that my mom uses it: Add a little flour of wheat and milk. The dough is much easier to work with, and the patties are more mellow.

Note that if you add a large proportion of wheat flour (almost 50/50), the cakes can be eaten both salty and sweet. But we lose a lot of buckwheat taste. That said, given the time it takes, it's a technique to not have to do two different pastas.

The 'complete' is a classic, but it is in the sand of the imagination. Onions, peppers and chorizo, it's also very good, for example. With Toulouse sausage too, it's a treat. It's a poor dish like the pizza originally, but depending on the filling, you can really feast.

All accompanied by a bowl of cider of course! Traditionally, cider is drunk in the bowl. A priori because Brittany has long been very poor, so there was not a lot of dishes. In the countryside, the plates were dug directly into the table, each had a spoon hanging on the chandelier above, his knife in his pocket, and a bowl. I imagine that if we continue to drink cider in the bowl, it's a legacy of that, but I can not say.

A table ?

biggrin

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

Be careful, it's hot ! A 'complete' for BladeD, one! wink

And as it gives me desires for gluttony, I prepare a cake with scallops and mushrooms. Notice to the amateurs.

The most complicated is to succeed the dough, after, there is just to feast according with what we want.

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

Costume

The bigoudene headdress is typical of where I grew up. When I was little, the 'grannies' were dressed like that when they left the church on Sunday. I think it was the last, to wear the habit regularly.

In Brittany, there is a whole story (that I do not know), which makes that following the headdress we know where a woman comes from. The Bigoudenes is obvious, and well known. But in Rennes for example, it's totally different:

Cooking

----------
As I'm pretty sure you'll want to try. In the photos we see very well, the 'complete', there is wheat flour, and maybe even milk. The color is more yellow, and we feel that it is soft. The other is the original recipe, more 'black', and drier. Both are good, but it's not the same. Regardless of the pad.

Breakfast

--------
Italian coffee maker on the campfire. Time to hear him sing, and it will be better for the awakening?

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

I mmmm ..... stefada, I smell the espresso brewing on the campfire already coffee coffee
Aren't we lucky to have you taking care of the finer things in life even when we are roughing it biggrin

Good Morning Base Campers!
Just a brief
- as opposed to yesterday's blushing
message:
My internet works when I establish a mobile hotspot,
so I have isolated the problem as a wi-fi router jinx, which I will test.
I have been able to upload the badge, nap designed:

Thank you, nap smile
If you want to put it in our safebox, stefada, I think it should sit next to the THOR/LOKI badge.
This means we have hyperinflation badge wise in Base Camp.
Then again: We have never made a THOR Challenge Round 3 before, so why not?
Everybody who takes part in this Round 3 by making a Grande Finale to
Base Camp’s GRAND GALLA SNURK CELEBRATION trek
by joining
SNURK and friends
will be decorated thusly:
for Base Camp’s GRAND GALLA SNURK CELEBRATION trek
*** - the THOR/LOKI badge of the third degree skull
for standing by SNURK until the end of THOR
- should SNURK happen to finish among the Top Three, I think we can persuade nap rose
to design one more badge cool
I shall be out of town and reach for a day or two with sparse presence; please behave devilish

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

Little Mermaid

----------
I am worse than a bear whose honey has been stolen on waking, to the point that even Louloup does not approach before having the signal. Fortunately, as I do not sleep much, I usually get up well before everyone else. So I have time to drink my coffee, and when the others get up, it's ready.

wink

Badges Secure

Oh misery! And if the Earth opened under my chest! And if all my Fortune fell into the bowels of the Earth!

The badges page has been updated. For the occasion, I made some modifications so that it is a little more pretty. I hope it will please you.

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

Thank you for putting the THOR 2018 badge in your safe, and re-arranging everything so neatly, stefada.
Also, thank you for the pretty pictures from your native Brétagne, and for the recipes,
I would like to try myself in my own kitchen.

Good Afternoon Base Campers!
Business
Just back from a middle-of-the-week-weekend
– a privilege for retired people
and as our summer in Denmark was exceptional, so is our fall.
So what have you been up to while I walked in the forest and went to see ’The Wife’ armed with 2.5 liters of popcorn
– free because I had joined some bonus program for that movie chain
I notice that Eric_Kaiser joined SNURK and friends so good to see you in a Base Camp crew again.
On the other hand, I noticed joneill003 left and I wonder if he’ll be back.
TLD rose made a commitment to come. Thank you smile
I hope more will come to make this Round 3 of the THOR Challenge 2018 a happy for SNURK and friends
You may choose to crunch normally
– or you may wish to try out OldChap’s bunkering recipe
but remember to join SNURK and friends no later than 23:59:59 UTC on Sunday October 21 to make the most impact.
After a week you may have made SNURK’s team among the Top Three
and you will have earned these badges:
***
You’ll get all the campfire espresso you can drink, avocodos with shrimps in the pitholes,
gourmet French slow food from Brétagne prepared by stefada following grandma's recipes,
and Mermaid Fish Sandwiches sick
