Good Afternoon Base Campers!
Business I’m so excited about how this Round 3 of the THOR Challenge turns out. SNURK and friends just had a new member hiimebm – welcome  We don’t know – yet – if hiimebm wants to be a permanent member or to stay while the race is on as a temporary, and – implicitly – Base Camp material. We are, however, working on finding that out, of course. Our curiosity is without borders It’s time to make a list of crunchers due for being dealt the blizzard of badges we have readied for this probably final leg of Base Camp’s GRAND GALLA SNURK CELEBRATION trek once it’s over:  The regular Base Camp’s GRAND GALLA SNURK CELEBRATION trek  A *** Bonus THOR/LOKI badge for being with us in Round 3  And finally the new SNURK and friends Round 3 badge.SNURK’s permanent members who have displayed a behavior that makes us think they are Base Campers at heart: SNURK – of course the Captain and creator of the SNURK signs will have them – he has to stay on his ship at all times even if he should wish to go base camping Crystal Pellet – took part in the THOR Challenge Round 2 supporting Serious Crunchers and is back with SNURK BladeD – a serious and faithful Base Camper going all over the place from his SNURK home Paul Schlaffer – received a badge earlier, for what I don’t recall, but he must have qualified somehow KevinGrabher – joined as a permanent member in September during Base Camp’s ordinary trek BobMcG – joined as a permanent member in September during Base Camp’s ordinary trek Seoulpowergrid – became a permanent member nudged by BladeD by the start of the THOR Challenge Fuddrux – joined on his own at initiative by Round 3 and will be regarded a permanent member unless he states otherwise thepeacekeeper7 – joined on his own initiative by Round 3 and will be regarded a permanent member unless he states otherwise hiimebem – joined on his own initiative by Round 3 and will be regarded a permanent member unless he states otherwise Base Campers Eric_Kaiser – reactivated his account little mermaid – reactivated her account NixChix – reactivated his account Doneske – a genuine Base Camper has arrived NAP2614 – will get all three badges - two of them designed by himself - whether he’s able to come or not during his time of mourning his wife MEP lost to Parkinson’s I hope I remembered everybody so far, and look forwar to expanding the list by many more names Picked up some salt water taffy upon passing Cape Cod  - please help yourselves  |

On arrive avec Louloup ! Mais comme on a encore une journée, on a fait une escale en Savoie, pour vous ramener une spécialité de plus. Je me suis rendu compte que cuisiner des fruits de mer devant une petite sirène, c'était pas très malin, et puis ça rajoutera des choix au menu.
----------------------------------------Nous vous proposons donc, une fondue savoyarde ! C'est un mélange de fromages de Savoie fondu (deux à 50/50 le plus souvent), avec un peu de vin et de crème fraîche. Il existe plein de recettes, celle-là (en Français) me semble très bien. Le but du jeu, c'est de tremper un bout de pain dedans à l'aide d'une pique. Et c'est très souvent accompagné de jambon et de salade. La tradition veut que quand on laisse tomber son bout de pain, on a un gage. Typiquement, faire le tour de la table à cloche pied. Ce genre de choses. La technique pour éviter de le faire tomber, c'est de le faire tourner tout doucement en même temps qu'on le trempe, pour que le poids de la fondue soit bien répartit. Ensuite, on laisse un peu refroidir, et on l'enroule d'une tranche de jambon ou d'une feuille de salade, suivant les goûts. Et il n'y a plus qu'à déguster. Qui veut une pique pour piocher dedans ? Attention, c'est réservé à ceux qui vont cruncher pour SNURK, qu'ils fassent le plein d'énergie ! (Sauf Puppy et Louloup qui auront leur morceau de jambon quand ça sera l'heure, mais ils sont hors-catégorie)  We arrive with Louloup! But as we still have a day, we made a stopover in Savoie, to bring you another specialty. I realized that cooking seafood in front of a little mermaid, it was not very clever, and then it will add choices to the menu. We offer you, a Savoyard fondue! It is a blend of melted Savoy cheeses (two to 50/50 most often), with a little wine and cream. There are plenty of recipes, this one (in French) seems to me very well. The goal of the game is to dip a piece of bread in it with a spade. And it is often accompanied by ham and salad. The tradition is that when you drop your piece of bread, you have a pledge. Typically, go around the table bell foot. This kind of things. The technique to avoid dropping it is to make it turn slowly while being soaked, so that the weight of the fondue is well distributed. Then, let it cool a bit, and roll it with a slice of ham or a leaf of salad, according to the tastes. And there is more to eat. Who wants a spade to dig into? Attention, it is reserved for those who will crunch for SNURK, they are full of energy! (Except Puppy and Louloup who will have their piece of ham when it's time, but they are out of category)  PS1 : Little Mermaid, it's very simple to cooking. Stefada, where do you find all this good food?  I am trying the bunkering approach as well. I am not near my computers this weekend, so I hope things work out when I release the gates on Monday morning. Also, I noticed it is easier to bunker multi core servers than dual core dinosaurs .  |
