Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

stefada, thank you for your info about fats.
Yes, fats and the cholesterol are believed to play a large role in hearts diseases,
and even here in Denmark where we did not know olive oil 50 years ago, we all have a bottle in our kitchens.
Foie gras was looked down upon by animal activists because of the way the birds were (mal)treated,
so I believe it was necessary for the farmers to put a positive spin on their product.
Something that tastes so well cannot be healthy! devilish
Hi, BladeD! I don’t understand how people find the time to watch TV – I have a hard time squeezing in an hour of streaming of many educating programs I would like to see. Perhaps if I watched them instead of making notes of which to see in the future ….
Managed to se ’C’est la vie’ just recently – streamed from the library.
Funny and French.

Good Morning Base Campers!
Business
I like your New Year’s Resolution a lot, stefada, and just before going to sleep last night, I noticed you had stuck to that resolution and joined the MEACC trek.
Welcome hugs

Yes, nap designed this very pretty badge for us, and yes,
it would be nice to have a copy in your safe, please, stefada.

Chit-chat
Nothing here – except for musing over what BladeD said: ’Real life is hard’ .....
My old classmate and I participated in a Heart March – just some 3 miles – on New Year’s Day.
I would not call it ’hard’
– on the other hand it requires another form of involvement of body and mind than the virtual life
– sitting in front of the computer and playing word games with BladeD – does .....
Greedy me wants both!

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

It's a cold of duck !!!
(real translation, but without humour : it's freezing cold)

Do not talk to me about it ...
I have the chair of chicken !!!

laughing

avoir la chair de poule / have the chair of chicken :

Trembler soit de froid, soit de peur, au point d’avoir une réaction épidermique bien visible.
Trembling with cold or fear, to the point of having a visible epidermal reaction.

----------
First term of medicine (seventeenth century), the expression is then entered into everyday language to mean that we are afraid or that we are cold. Indeed, when we feel these emotions, the hair bristles, giving the skin the appearance of that of a poultry that we would have deplored

----------
I do not know if there are expressions like that outside of French. Do you have English, Danish or Finnish?

confused

Au coin du feu / At the Fireside

----------
The Italian coffee maker is on the campfire. Attention it is very black, so maybe you want to add water or sugar.
For those who wish, I can add calva in your cup. A calva coffee is a classic in France to warm up.

A very dark coffee = a tight or very strong coffee. (There either I do not know if you have these expressions)

peace

Trek & Perf

We often say that the cold it motivates, the graph of the calculation time tends to confirm it: we did even more than the day before!
For my part, I had forgotten that I had a package of WU waiting for validation. Which gave 11 days of calculation instead of my usual daily average. A nice surprise.

The big question is: will we do more today ?

good luck

avoir la chair de poule

Dutch: kippenvel (chicken skin) in: ik krijg er kippenvel van (it makes my skin crawl, it gives me the creeps, I got goose bumps)
German: Gänsehaut (goose skin) in: eine Gänsehaut kriegen [Austria, Switzerland: Hühnerhaut (chicken skin)]

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

stefada, in addition to adriverhoef’s comprehensive post,
I can add that we in Denmark get gåsehud – gooseskin – when we are cold,
and that someone will ask us to get warm again by working.
We also raise the little hairs in the back of our neck when we experience something scary alien 2 skull
– and yes, I know that it’s the capillaries contracting that makes us bristle nerd
Thank you adriverhoef – nice to see you here smile
Are you about to travel to the Frysland Islands and punch some containers? tongue

Good Afternoon Base Campers!
Business
This crew of six make an awful difference to MEACC’s graphs. Yesterday looked like this:

up, up, up .....
I have not had any reactions from the Captain, but he’s a family man with combined four children …
I have told him what we do to his graphs, tho’
Of course, we should like to welcome more Base Campers.
The US Mint is ready to mint more of the birch badges

Chit-chat
Repeat: Out of town for the weekend .... few and far between posts if any sad
Those who know me know that I’m a Peterbilt fetichist – enjoy this ballet please
