Re: Happy Birthday Marine Corps!!!

Bump, hey did anyone hear about nibs the dog that was rescued by the Marine in Iraq and just landed in San Diego on Sunday. Quite a story, he was called nibs because someone cut his ears off before the Marines found him, he was also stabbed with a screwdriver before being resued. He is now in the care of a foster family in SD awaiting his new master to come home from Irag in the spring. smile

Re: Happy Birthday Marine Corps!!!

I want to express my thanks to all the USMC team members for joining the WCG and for allowing their contribution to these projects to be associated with this team.

Let's see 1776 makes me think of the US Declaration of Independences, which was adopted on July 4th, 1776 at Independence Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - something most people know.

But did you know that each year on November 10th, all US Marines worldwide have a formal ceremony know as the Marine Corps Birthday Ball (including a birthday cake) to celebrate the founding of the Continental Marines at Tun's Tavern in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on November 10th, 1775.

Yes, that date is correct November 10th, 1775 is celebrated as the Birthday of the United States Marine Corps.

So today November 10th, 2010, I would like to wish a very Happy 235th Birthday to all Marines, Semper Fi

Let's set the record straight

In an attempt not to inflame, but simply to set the record straight at the present time ...

http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/team/viewTeamInfo.do?teamId=51JGB63MRP1
shows that the U.S.Air Force team was created on 11/22/05 with Statistics Last Updated on 12/28/10 23:59:59 (UTC)
having Totals:
Current Members 103 (#290)
Retired Members 13
All-Time Members 116
Total Run Time (y:d:h:m:s) (Rank) 85:276:16:52:10 (#380)
Points Generated (Rank) 74,778,105 (#276)
Results Returned (Rank) 135,872 (#324)

and http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/team/viewTeamInfo.do?teamId=136RWX2QBN1
shows that the US NAVY team was created on 11/28/04 with Statistics Last Updated: 12/28/10 23:59:59 (UTC)
having Totals:
Current Members 117 (#254)
Retired Members 12
All-Time Members 129
Total Run Time (y:d:h:m:s) (Rank) 125:186:01:31:59 (#277)
Points Generated (Rank) 86,468,475 (#245)
Results Returned (Rank) 175,450 (#262)

however http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/team/viewTeamInfo.do?teamId=VD5RSMBR9N1
shows that the USMC team was created on 11/17/04 again with Statistics Last Updated: 12/28/10 23:59:59 (UTC)
having Totals:
Current Members 43 (#672)
Retired Members 8
All-Time Members 51
Total Run Time (y:d:h:m:s) (Rank) 158:027:04:21:18 (#218)
Points Generated (Rank) 93,916,506 (#222)
Results Returned (Rank) 202,811 (#222)

Yet, in the forum thread https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/...ad_thread,30486_offset,33
on Dec 9, 2010 at 10:01:11 AM, parmesian comes to the conclusion that only the Air Force and Navy are worth mentioning in

"... to help us correct this discrepancy between the Air Force and Navy. (the other branches aren't worth mentioning)"

so just to set the record straight, how then with less than half the number of all time members do we have more total run time, more points generated and more results returned than either the Navy or Air Force?

From the USMC team (a team worth mentioning) to both the Navy and Air Force teams good luck and best wishes with building your teams and increasing your contributions to WCG.
