Re: Lost Cruncher

Hmmm, CPU or board?
I have a Celeron 3Ghz sitting here that I replaced with a dual core D925...but the CPU was fully functional...I figured for the $59 it cost for the 'real' CPU it was worth the upgrade (and the board supported the D925 but not Core 2 duo)!

Not sure yet, but probably the board. It is an old 478 pin 1.2 GHz celeron. My office was running hot anyway with 4 computers, so I might just try having 3 for now. I have 2 more systems in the closet that I might be able to scrounge enough parts out of to make one. biggrin

Ahhh, I the one I have is the newer style with no actual pins sticking out.
A 1.2 runs on a different board, but if anyone needs it...LOL
I even have a P2-450 and a P2-900 ditting on my shelf unused, and a slot 1 adapter to convert a P2 flip chip to a slot1.

Re: Lost Cruncher

Actually till the u.s. doesnt stop the oil wars I won't be able to upgrade anything. Power prices have gone up like 50% in the last 2 years, all the materails I use are very energy price sensitive so, my business is in a little down state. Lets hope you guys elect someone more of a friendly type...

Re: Lost Cruncher

I did some calcuations on the Dual Xeon Dual Core versus the Dual Xeon Quad Core system.

The Dual Core is averaging around 14 workunits per day while the Quad Core is averaging 33 workunits per day. Both profiles are set exactly the same and the time of analysis was using the same 11 days worth of data.

Granted the Quad Core is a running with 2.66 GHz processors and the Dual Core is only 1.86 GHz, they are both producing plenty of work.

My DSL went down. Took a few days to to find the problems, but have made it back.

So if there was a question why I seem distant in the conversation, it was from sweating days offline.

Right now, I have to play MW4 online. I'm not hooked mind you. I went 4 days wiithout playing or any internet contact at all. hehe, I'm not hooked I'M NOT! I'm NOT HOOKED, heHEheheheHE, I'm NOT!!!!! I'm I'm ah not,, hooked, I'm not!
