rose Re: Badges... Who's got badges

I Joined WCG August 3rd 2008
I had ALL my 'baby' badges in about 4 days.
I've had my AIDS and Rice gold badges for months.
(I'm not going for gold in all projects. Only 2)

I only have 1 desktop computer (Named "Datastorm") that has, in 3 1/2 months,
(Through Christmas)

1,987,572 Points (just in this project)
of my total 3,744,553 points (in WCG)

1,327 results returned of 3,594 results total

and my NRW runtime is 1 year 105 days 04 hours 53 minutes 21 seconds of
the WCG total 2 years 208 days 22 hours 54 minutes 34 seconds

and I really noticed the WU slowdown: my RAC dropped! I'm still getting an AVG 6 days and 10 hours of credit per 24 hours of runtime (even with it going into the shop once)! My team is climbing fast!

One desktop tower: a standard off the shelf workstation. Since Valentine's Day it has climbed into the BOINC stats top 5,000 systems. (4,640 it says below.)

Please tell us more about your standard off-the-shelf desktop computer. Maybe you forgot to mention that your standard system has dual Quad core chips? Standard...huh?

Hi all,
Have been suffering as from past 10-15 days getting no work from Rice project. Getting other projects. Would be ok with having even a bronze one of the same. Stuck at 8 days atm :(

Re: Badges... Who's got badges

The NRW researchers have a storage problem, so WCG have reduced the project weighting. It may be stopped completely.

Re: Badges... Who's got badges

I've noticed the slow down. But I guess we'll be notified if it is stopped for a period of time?

Sure: it's right off the shelf.

http://www.apple.com/macpro/

If you want to buy a Tower from APPLE they offer the computer I have as their STANDARD Configuration. This is the fastest computer to run Windows on too. When I ran the "Power Fractal" application http://daugerresearch.com/fractals/powerfractal.shtml it said I get 80 GigaFLOPS! (My previous Dual G5 Mac only gave me 16 gigaFLOPS: in 3 years their systems are now 5 times faster!)

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2003900/posts?page=1 (a photo of my simple desktop system and a screenshot of that raw power at play are halfway down the page ...)

I'd love to have a room full of these babies. If one can kick ass like this: a dozen of them would be awesome.

It's not assembled out of a collection of 3rd party boards and Drivers like most Windows Systems are. The Hardware is designed for the OS it ships with: but It'll run Linux, or Windows, just fine if you choose to install them.

I've been in computing 32 years: since Fortran IV with Punched Cards on a CDC-1702 Mainframe. I grew up with computers and I would NOT buy a Windows Computer! You may HAVE all those Spyware/Trojans/Worms/and Viruses: Macs don't HAVE them and I don't need them. I'm a computer security expert too!

Less time spent scanning for malware equals more time to crunch about 25 results a day ... over 1,000 'points' per result.
