Re: .

Thank you Joe about concern, but can assure that I cannot develop addiction to this stuff, simply way too painful.
Pain is not same kind like with hot peppers, it is absolutely more identical when dentist stab that horse needle to gum and it just continue something like fifteen minutes. So need to be seriously wearied out, before I do not mind about this little feature.

Some more pic, did get this very nice collage to my office wall, it is made out from mechanical watch parts. So very nice IMHO blushing

Text on post-it is kind of humorous expression like Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club.
There is actually ancient old fashion PSTN-phone line on socket, have still some use even these days for it.
Technically speaking got some network devices powersuplies connected to that line. Carrying idea is that if those (network devices) get totally jammed etc, I can reboot (usually fix 90% of problems) those (powersuplies -> network devices will follow) with old fashion telephone anywhere from world.
Example if found myself from Africa where there is only one ancient rotary-phone on village, can perform reboot with it.
Of course can also shut down everything if somebody has loot network devices behind those powersuplies and kick me out from my network devilish

Re: .

I learned a new word today - jetons. Here we would be using the word"token." Nothing here as fancy as what you have. The only ones I have seen are usually made of some base metal or hard durable plastic. Years ago when I rode the bus a lot, I seem to remember you could buy bus tokens at a discount, I think they were 8 or 9 for a dollar for 15 cent tokens.
Cheers

Re: .

I found this picture and it looked interesting. Enjoy.

The bright lights of Norway, Finland and Sweden sparkle at night in this satellite photo. The image was assembled from data acquired by instruments aboard the Suomi National Polar-orbiting Partnership (Suomi NPP) satellite in 2012.

The Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) can detect light in a wide range of wavelengths and uses sophisticated filtering techniques to pick up dim signals, such as city lights. Several large cities and their bright lights can be seen in the photo, including Stockholm in Sweden, Oslo in Norway and Helsinki in Finland.

Cheers

Sure do, thank you so very much.
There is quite much Finland history on that pic. There is three bright spot.

Current metropolitan area (around Helsinki) explain itself quite much.

Öbaut 200km (125 miles) to west, there is Finland's original capital and oldest town town, so kind of self explanatority stuff also.

More interesting is star 125 miles to northwest, there is town where industrial age stared on Finland. It was also first town on Finland where free enterprising was allowed.
So this one dude (engineer by the way) wrote to tzar asking huge loan and freedom of religion all his workers.
He dis get both and build hydroelectric power plant and some factories around it. Backwoods village did become flourishing town by this single man (engineer might I say). Kind of Mayflower equivalent, with engineers if I can add.

I think that light on upper north will still be there after hundred years.
For long time (there has been now triple recession on Finland since this millennium) there is light on end of tunnel.
With this I mean €uro <-> US$ comparison. In just few months value of €uro has come down some ten pöäng and I'm pretty sure that there will be at least ten more to come. Actually betting myself 20%.
If this happen, then manufacturing is lucrative business here again from very long time and there will be factories also on future on upper parts.

Well, more fashion stuff. Bought myself few hat for outdoor activities from Ukraine.
Model is copied from red army catalog, but those are modified to be very comfy (not smelling or head louse). Just need to remove cockade and ready to go (if want some for souvenir or something, sure can post, have few extra).
Those are really thick, warm, soft (furry) and really comfy. When wear under hood, work as pillow if sleeping outdoor or something.
Sure, mother earth was damaged when they did produce these. They did drill big hole to her, just to get crude which they did cracking to polyester.
Think they also dump whining grannies to those holes after sucked dry.

Re: .

Hello fellows smile

Hope you all did have jolly good Xmas.

I sure did, this years was very rare to me on that matter that did have time to spend on rural. And ou dear how I remember, what sub-arctic climate is about.
This year did seems to become black like some many predecessors, but like a touch from magic wand, on 23. day it did start to snow. Next day there was something like open canal from North Pole to here, temperature did went down couple dozen degree on few hours.

Some pic from Central Park of my home town.
Did spot lot of footprints, but not so many of human origin. I sure did have time of my life blushing

Free hint for tourist: Nope, common diesel will not maintain liquid form here on winter time..
So fill tank with Polaris grade from first local pump station or get fuel pump with pre-heater . There was dead tourist mobile on every street corner, one was still occupied with horrified couple. Sure, did check and there was not children, so it was funny. So funny biggrin

Anyone who has a deisel here know that #2 deisel is for the summer and #1 is for the winter. Nobody wants wants to have their fuel gel on them in the cold.

November here was colder than normal, but December has been quite mild so far, with a number of days above 32 F( 0 C). The honeymoon is ending in a couple of days when we will be subzero F (-18C) for a while. Still, not too bad for this time of year.

Hope you and yours have had a good and safe Christmas season.

Cheers

Edit: correction for spelling

It sure looks like it. There was couple of normally cold days, but kind of new normal (warm&wet) again.

Ou poi, got some frankenwatch today.
Case and dial are skx007 (I think) but those hands (sword hands) are from some another watch (non-Seiko) or pure spare parts.
Who ever did build this baby, did some very awesome work, obviously some watch smith.

Mine now blushing
