How are classes going? I have my midterms this week and next week. I have to write a paper concerning the theological approaches to domestic and sexual violence in different religious communities. Let me know if any of you have thoughts on the subject. I hope you're having a good time Blizzie - make sure to save some time for some cute coeds.


So far, so good on my end. smile I guess they weren't lying when they said college is one of the best times of your life. Housing, roommate, floormates all happened to be perfect. smile

I think sometime around christmas I'm going to get an Nvidia 200 series graphics card and have pwnage GPU crunching power. Any idea on which 200 series is the best bang for the buck?


Does it have to be Nvidia? Or can it be ATI?


Has to be nvidia to crunch.

I am not having problems sending in work units marysduby; Everything apears normal.


Actually, if you really want to tear it up, get a graphics card. My Boinc Credits jumped from 2000-3000 per day to between 6000-8000 when I started graphics crunching. Also, those 8800gts are stupid cheap at this point. Even if you burn one out with your crunching, who cares? They're like 80 bucks to replace!

I have seen this mentioned before. Do these graphics crunchers do WCG Boinc? If so, I could possibly get it going on one of my dual cores; where are the instructions etc.?

No, WCG does not have a GPU project. See here for the software requirements for PS3Grid. Go here and scroll down to "minimum system requirements" to see what your PC will need. You must have an adequate power supply, an empty PCI-E slot and a full tower case as the cards are quite large (~10" long)

This is the new quad which both Dataman and I bought. It would be difficult to build one yourself for that price. Other than a Vista licensing problem (corrected after a bit of a hassle) Dataman had, they have been running purr-fectly since!

That does look like a really good deal. I could use one of those smile
or two smile I am not quite ready though (my wife would kill me) but in a month or so I think I will try sneak one in the budget. Of course I will be caught but by then my punishment will likely be less severe. smile Have any of you ever seen a hissi-fit? confused It is a terrible thing to see!
