A 10 hour WU will run for 10 hours. The estimation is just a little off in your client. That should resolve itself after you run a few WUs.
The same goes for the 6 hour...it will run for 6 hours no matter what. |

The NRW work unit is given a time limit. It will complete as many folds as it can in that time limit. Each fold uses slightly different variables so there is no duplication. However, BOINC does not know about the time limit. Instead it is given a target number of calculations, which the server thinks is the average number of calculations that will be done in that time limit. BOINC will estimate the time it will take for that CPU to complete the given number of calculations. That time estimate is what it shows, rather than the actual time limit. Confusing, isn't it?
Despite the length of the estimate, the work unit will run for the fixed length of time - - in this case, for 6 hours of CPU time. Lawrence |

I have a six hour wu running now, assuming that the statement that it will stop after six hours is correct!
----------------------------------------Sorry. It did stop after six hours but it was an E project! [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Feb 6, 2009 11:40:14 PM] |

I have seen exactly one 6 hour NRW WU and that was a few days ago. All the ones I've seen since have been the 10 hour variety.

I guess it takes quite some time before these changes are common, as the announcement was on January 13.

The project runs slow so it takes long for all the 10 hour jobs to flush out.

... They're here now in full force it seems. The last 4-5 that came in in intervals of few hours all show 6 hours predicted run time whilst the last2 before have 10 on them.
----------------------------------------Also it seems the weight for the project was shifted up. The share was about 15 CPU years per day, but now it's going for over 30 today. Certainly with 6 hours the total tasks availability increased by 66% so more people should see them intermixed with other jobs on multi project crunchers. ttyl

Most of the ones that came through today are batch 253, but I've still got some from 301 and 302 in the system. |
