Re: Long to Rain over us

Moaning all......

It looks like it will be raining on the Reigner's parade!.

History repeating it's self, Operation Overlord was nearly cancelled because of bad weather at the start of June.

Coronation Day was wet and temperature's only reached 11c.

The same again for HM's Silver Jubilee1977, this was the wettest coldest June of the 20th century.

Golden Jubillee mostly cloudy and cold

The forecast for this weekend is rain and tempratures dipping.

Oh well It's still great to be British!!

Congratulations Lizzybet, long may you stay our Queen. rose

Re: Long to Rain over us

As the holiday weekend gets closer the sky gets darker. So nothing changes.
I hope you all have a good one.

Re: Long to Rain over us

Moaning all.......... cool

Seeing Dens post of the Mirror, brought back some memories!, dads favourite paper and then my own favourite up until the late 80s then the format changed and it wasn't the same! Maxwell ruined a good paper as well as a pension fund!!. I have a framed copy of the Mirror on my office wall, dated 15th Nov 1945, the headline reads-'PALESTINE MOB IS FIRED ON BY BRITISH--The 6th Are There' there is also an article about a british Officer who shot his wifes lover!, the jury wanted to give him a medal!! applause

Have a great Jubilee weekend all, don't get too wet..... good luck rose

Old Sage wink
Ps. The paper then cost 1penny, inflation in 1953 took it to a penny ha'penny, a whopping 50% increase! crying biggrin

Re: Long to Rain over us

I grew up on the News Chronicle and when that disappeared overnight, didn't like the Mail so had the Times for a while and then found the Guardian to be my natural home and it remains so to this day.
On Saturday I also get the FT and the Times to get a broad view of the news not to mention a variety of crosswords.
